Title: Detention Center
Post by: dyne21 on July 09, 2009, 10:37:47 PM
Well i was wondering when you get banned you have to wait wait and wait to be able to go back on , why not make a detention center for them when they log in.

There sent into a building (where other players can see them and laugh, point and laugh :p) where they are able to train but without being able to get drops, or pvp,and they are mute, but just leveling up. So they dont fall behind. ;D

People are banned for reasons. There shouldn't be a special area just for the mand they shouldn't be able to log on at all when banned.

Plus, what's the point of leveling if it's not going to be useful?

People are often banned for security reasons. Havent them still be able to acess the game is a bad thing.

This idea could be used for Tournaments, for people who jump onto the platforms. Instead of banning them, then unbanning them after the Tournament, just send them to Detention for the rest of the day.

I'd rather have a Wall of Shame, where the heads of all banned players are kept pinned to walls with Dunce hats equiped.

I'm not sure why, but  I really like this idea. I guess I can picture it actually happening in S.O. I also like this idea because, it would give banned players still privileges to Stick-Online, but certain privileges. And I also like how he puts in the idea of leveling up while banned just so you don't fall behind.

I believe this idea is intended to be used for temp bans, not perma bans...

And I believe this has been suggested before numerous times. It's a fun idea.

What's wrong with punishing someone with a temporary ban from the game?

Well, I would make this separate from normal bans. Like, this is just a punishment and you are stuck there until you realize what you have done wrong, and you are let out. Bans could be a step up from this. The Detention Center is served like a warning, and the next time it's a ban.

Seriously, temp bans are just the same purpose for less work.

I mean, leveling up in prison doesn't really matter, seeing as it's not a race or anything.

If a player gets banned for hacking, in allowing the player to be in detention, they are connecting to the server. They may continue their hacking, and even hack themselves out of detention.

As for temp-bans, that's fine. But there is a great difference.

I think we should stick with temp bans.

As far as I know, the game doesn't even have a method of temp banning currently... The only way it's done is the mod bans them, and then Meiun has to later unban them.

ok what about not a detention center but like a conference room where your questioned 1 on 1 with a mod or admin.

they ask you why your their,  if its true or not, (if true) why you did it, and they decide on a verdict guilty non-guilty, (if guilty) decide punishment, (if innocent) they give small reward.

:o

Uhhhhh no.

Takes the GM's time and...well, if they're caught, then they have a right to email Meiun or post a topic in the forums. No need to let them in the game still.

Why are you so afraid of people getting banned any way? Just fallow the rules and what ever the gm says and you will be just fine.

Reminds me of Ultima Online, with Jail - thought you couldn't do anything except just stand around in there. I don't necessarily think it is needed for here; especially not with allowing them to still be able to fight/play; if they broke the rules, they shouldn't be allowed to play, if deemed so by the game master force.

Actually guys, I love this idea:
You have no idea how much fun it would be to run around Stick Online commiting various acts of "Stick-Treason". Than when asked in a detention center of law by Meiun dressed in a judge's cloak and fishnets (or whatever Judge Judy wears), I blatently deny all charges. Getting away with anything I do would be sooo darn easy, seeing as I would hire Chaos as my lawyor. Than, at the end of it all, I would enjoy my small reward for getting away with everything, wether it may be a new sword, or a cucumber to pleasure myself at night. Anyways, this is a really well thought-out idea, and must be added to the game ASAP!

You have a flawed view of the mod/admin role. They aren't there to be your parent. They are there to make sure that, in general, nothing too bad happens in the game. If someone is being annoying to someone, the mods aren't really going to do much of anything unless it crosses a certain line. They don't really step in for minor disputes like what you're talking about. And in a case where there is ambiguity over who might be at fault, they also try to stay out of those situations. If it's one person's word over another, then there's not much basis to do anything.

Mainly, you'll see them taking action when it's blatantly obvious that the person is causing trouble. Other than that, they would leave it up to the community to handle things.

Keep in mind, this was my general approach to moderating, and I learned it from watching some of the other moderators... but at this point a lot of the moderators are different... so they might take a different approach than what I described above. Although I would think any mod wouldn't disagree with my sentiment that they aren't there to be your mom.
