Albert is struck hard in the abdomen by the beast and is wracked with full-body twitching from the pure force of the impact. (-5 HP)

Albert realizes his mouth is now nearly devoid of air, and his mental faculties start to fail him as a dulling pain wracks his body. He changes the Materia Gauntlet into the water of the river, and his body follows suit. His charged energy substituted the need for draining of his 'aura'. (-1 Charge)

Albert takes a glimpse at something shiny around the fish-beast's neck.

"Now that I take a closer look...something's emanating from that locket."

Albert swings an elongated watery Gauntlet and touches the locket. As he does so, his arm shudders back, somehow repulsed by it. Yet the Gauntlet seemed to have copied something anyway- the facilitation of manually increasing power.

Under certain conditions, Albert's max HP/MP as well as other attributes can now increase.

Albert realizes the Aural Ring seems to have obtained more information as well.

The codfish-beast roars as his prey has changed form into water. Perhaps humans aren't nearly as helpless as he thought. When he feels the locket twitch from the human's touch, the codfish-beast jerks away.

Eyeing the human's vessel, the Codfish beast darts towards it, and begins to gather up the small pool of magical energy he has.

As the fish-beast starts moving away from Masson, he realizes the beast never had a desire to eat him. Instead, he wanted to wreck his small ship!

Masson frowns and narrows his eyebrows. He would let the beast have his ship, as he could easily make another vessel later, even though that one was cherished by him. He had more important business to attend to, and he had already wasted enough time.

But one thing was for certain- that nasty being was now marked. He could expect, at the least, a most unpleasant maiming from him when they crossed paths again.

"You can have that ship, you mangy animal! I don't have much need for it anymore! Go wild!" he screams at the beast from afar.

Hopefully that monster carried some semblance of intelligence in its cranium so he could interpret what he had said. Heck, maybe this 'offering' would soften the beast to some degree and he could catch it off-guard next time.

Albert swims to the Center.

The codfish-beast gathers more mana to unleash Aqua Cannon, and hears the jeering of the human. He almost contemplated chasing after again, but it would be a waste of his charges. Besides, as the human said, this contraption was useless to the owner now. The codfish-beast might as well use it as a subject for testing of his strength.
