I was listening to the NPR sciences podcast and they found that the oil does nothing to stop it. It may even make it worse because the oil make cause the water to heat up more. According to them.

In all seriousness though, what exactly could the government do if they took over? Seems to me BP is the expert here. Wouldn't the government end up going to the experts... such as BP? I find it funny the stuff they are trying to do to stop the leak, and the way they explain it, they sound like they are pulling the ideas out of their ass.
