I almost sympathize for Carreon...

Because of his bat-shit crazy wife...

Yea. Because holy jesus, look at that long list of names. And she practically wants to sue everyone who doesn't like her husband. After hearing her comments I almost feel like we're all being trolled, her cheese has slid off her cracker. x.x

That's putting it mildly...  I wished I could have been in these troll wars with her, she would have sued me for every penny I could ever earn when I drop the ultimate insult on her and her husband: I hope you step on a lego.

This is just silly. Well I guess Americans' lust for sueing is too powerful once again...
And sueing charitees? Thats so unethical. The wellbeing of 1 family does not trump the lives that can be saved via donation.

So wait, HIS lawsuit started over a picture drawn of, as Inman has said, FunnyJunk's mom with a Bear, and now his wife is wildly accusing people of being Nazis, watching illegal porn, and made fun of the Buddhist religion? If the first thing was illegal, she carried insults to a whole new level and should be the one getting sued. I'm surprised what has happened is so mild compared to what it could be. Internet users could have done much worse to his email, and sent worse to his house. It just reminds me of number 4 on this list http://www.thinkdigit.com/Internet/Top-10-Trolls-in-Internet-History_3261.html He's crossing into the wrong side of the internet, and is just starting a flame war, with a bunch of trolls. The good thing is, I get to sit back and laugh as it unfolds because I know his lawsuit is going no where, and TheOatmeal's site is getting more and more traffic due to all the press. "There's no such thing as bad publicity" at least for TheOatmeal.

As long as we remember that publicity and reputation are two separate things, then yes.  Plus, the internet has tendencies to jump to the little guy's defense more often than the big-bad wolf.

I'm waiting for the day when he's going to throw down an all-or-nothing last resort bullshittery attempt.

Probably something along the lines of "Attempt to shut down The Oatmeal, both charities, backtrace all the threats and hate mail/speech given about him, sue all those people too for as much money as possible, also attempt to claim 100% of all the funds generated by the fundraiser, and STILL demand $20,000 be paid to FunnyJunk, no, actually, not FunnyJunk, but to himself after all these past actions have been carried out."

As far as I'm concerned, that's what he wants to do. We all know that's EXACTLY what he wants to do at this point.

And I seriously hope he does so this becomes all the more hilarious. The dude dug himself into a hole much too deep to climb back out of, so the next best thing is keep digging until you hit the core, and go out with a bang, because nobody's going to want this dude to represent them in court when he royally !@#$s up this bad at a dispute like this.

This is funny to me; Carreon had referred to that picture as being his mother and that he did not like it. When it was never his mother, it was the admin of FJ's mother.. So I don't understand what got him raging in the first place. Oatmeal didn't really make any personal attacks on Carreon other than tearing apart his letter to shreds when he asked for the $20k and pretty much make a joke of the whole thing and then decide to give to charity.
But my god, that woman is definitely crazy and they definitely belong together. I can't believe from a lawyer's view that Charles hasn't told her wife to stfu yet.

Looks like the man who sued the Roman Empire, the Appalachian Trail, the Warsaw Pact, ?Uniform Commercial Code, unknown authors of?, www.backstreetboys.com, and former planet Pluto? in the same lawsuit is now suing Carreon:

EDIT: On a side note, an excellent write-up from Paul Levy (former ally of Charles) who is now suing Carreon on behalf of Doe #1 from charles-carreon.com:

http://pubcit.typepad.com/clpblog/2012/07/charles-carreon-digs-himself-even-deeperand-registercom-betrays-a-customer.html

And Doe #1's very personal and out of character response to Carreon:

http://charles-carreon.com/2012/07/02/a-break-from-character-part-2/

EDIT #2:  Any interesting point in the following write-up.  I myself have actually second-guessed posting on some of the more high-profile sites (Ars Technica, charles-carreon.com) for the exact reasons the first write-in describes.  It's crossed my mind that if I post something, there's a chance I could be litigated against by Carreon, and financially/emotionally ruined through years of frivolous litigation.  How pathetic is that, when you have to second guess your right to Freedom of speech when the alternative is financial ruin:

It's over folks, ya'll can go home.  Carreon won.

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2012/07/carreon-claims-victory-drops-his-lawsuit-against-the-oatmeal-et-al/

QuoteSounds like Carreon went to the War of 1812 School of Victory Definition.

1) Invade foreign nation.
2) Meet unexpected resistance.
3) Gain new enemies, but no new territory.
4) Retreat.
5) Declare victory.

200k in cash is actually pretty underwhelming. Who knew that thin pieces of paper could be so powerful?

It's actually only 20k... Of his personal funds.  To avoid any further litigation (Carreon accused him of wanting to withdraw the money and keep it for himself), he had IndieGoGo forward all of it on his behalf to nullify that argument, and just photographed 20k of his own personal cash.  Hence Carreon's bizarre "I won" claim from last week.

I remember him saying he was only going to take a picture 0f 20k... but at the top of that page it does say "here's the pic of the 200k+ in cash we raised for charity"... x.x
