If you give a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day.
If you light a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Before you get too far on this. The image of the stick person you added is nearly identical to the Stick Online one. If you're going for an "offline" version of Stick Online you might want to think about it a bit more. First, permission might be required from Meiun. Secondly, you might want to distance yourself from SO anyways just to be a bit more unique. If you come up with a story line (considering it's a single player game people are going to want more to do than kill monsters and get items) maybe change the name to something relating to that story. In addition, alter the main character to look significantly different from the SO stick character. Maybe even make it a non-stick person.

Mr Pwnage

As of now, the stickman is essentially plagiarism...just make an entirely new sprite, never take somebody's and alter it to sell as your own.

Christ. It's a stick. You can't copyright a !@#$ing stick, that's the entire damn point of a stick figure, they all look THE SAME. Not that it would be hard to make a few minor edits to it, but honestly, I don't see whats the big deal.

Lingus

No. I disagree. You can make a stick figure in plenty of different ways. For someone to, at random, design a stick figure and come up with something so similar to the SO stick figure is pretty clear that they used the same image. At least as a starting point, or as a basis.

But in the end does it Really matter? I could understand people getting pissy with copying Stick Online's monsters, weapons, or hats. But a stick figure? What the hell is wrong with using something you like as a basis for what you're doing?

It's a STICK...

I guess. It's mainly just that anyone who has played SO will immediately think of SO when they see that stick figure. Whereas if they used a more distinct design (as well as changed the name) people would think of this game as a more unique game rather than an "offline" version of SO.

xCoCex

nop. its 0% like SO in a "offline" mode.
And yes it has a story, too!
Its something like Zelda(not really) where you just go in one direction.
The monsters doesn't spawn again or something.
And the stickman is from me!(k the legs..)
Its an Adventure-Game! Maybe its a bit like SO, but other games
are like SO, too. for example: RavagedLand, Kiox, nfo, Stick adventures online...........

Wait here how I will make it:
(you)......(monsters)..(monsters).....(quest)....(monsters).......(boss)....(new city)............................................

QuoteMaybe even make it a non-stick person.
sry, I choose a stick, because its the easiest one to animate..

I already animate the running and 1 weapon. Was a hard work for a noob-pixler  :-\

So now we have Stick Online, Stick World Online and Stick World, what's next?  :P

The stick character in the game is just a copy of the SO character with a different head.

However, I like the idea. Good luck.  :)

I partly quit SO. I only come online for updates and events. Have a good day. :)

i have to agree with lucifer, i mean jesus its a stick figure. big deal even if it looks the same, i can draw a EXACT replica of the stick online character

The question is not whether you can replicate it. It is how likely it is for someone who has never seen the SO stick figure to draw a stick figure almost exactly like it on the first try, just by chance. It's not likely at all...

To be honest, I don't really care. Games like this, that are so similar to Stick Online, they come and they go. So in the end it's not really a big deal. I just thought I'd present some advice. If you want your game to have a bit more of a chance of success, make it unique. If you don't care about that, then you probably don't care if your game succeeds either.

...Whats wrong with having the stick look like the one from Stick Online? Considering its been said before, there are not too many ways to make it unique. And even so, that doesn't determine the success of the game.

Saying he doesn't care about his game because he is using a generic stick figure (which all stick figures almost are), that is very similar to the Stick Online one is ridiculous.... Though I agree these games come and go, much too often. But you do/make what you know.
