Title: Switching in items?
Post by: Forum on August 14, 2009, 11:33:08 PM
What if we had 1 Inferno sword and just got another one. Now we'd just have to delete it and try hoping for a Dragoon again... I think we should be able to switch it in at maybe a shop?  ???
Heres some switches-
dagger/ss=bandit mask
bandit cover=spire dagger
wooden hammer=stone hammer(i don't this one is even though)
green beret=fedora
great sword=katana o.o (not even eather)
froggy hat= frog hat
pirate hat= wizard hat
top hat=skele mask=scythe
(red) candy cane=(green) candy cane= (blue) candy cane
pumpkin hat=jacko

Switches would be permanent and can only be used if you get a second or more of the item.

This makes it so that you get what you want with no effort if you have the pre-requisite item. Someone may want a Katana, but have multiple GS's. This makes it easy for them to trade in for a katana.

That being said, I don't like it.

That's the point if you read what i said clearly. If you have 2 GS's you can switch the other in for a Katana or you could just delete your other GS and continue trying to get a Katana, making your SO journey easier. But if you switched a Kat for GS i think it just wouldn't even out.

The last part depends on whether you need the GS or not.

The katana and GS are two different weapons, and are on equal terms with the speed and attack differences. Because of them being equal, it makes things too easy.

You should have to earn you items, not trade a duplicate for something you don't want to work for.

I think a player-to-player trading system would work much better.

No. Please think through your ideas before posting. If you don't think they're "even" then why the hell are you bothering posting them?

Bandit Mask = Dagger/Short Sword: Frankly I don't see a point, as the Dagger and Short Sword are available at the store. Now if that were turned around to be Dagger/Short Sword = Bandit Mask that would make a little more sense, seeing as the Bandit Mask cannot be bought.
Bandit Cover = Spire Dagger: No. The Spire Dagger is a much more useful and (I think) rare item than the Bandit Cover.
Wooden Hammer = Stone Hammer: No. Obviously. The Stone Hammer is much more rare and in many cases useful than Wooden Hammer.
I don't really need to continue, I'd just be repeating myself over and over.

The idea in general isn't horrible, it's just the way you've presented it that nobody is going to agree with. I think a little more in-depth system of this idea might work. The first thing that comes to mind would be the Horadric Cube in Diablo 2, where you stick a certain combination of items into the cube and press "transmute", and the items will change into something depending on what you put in. The next thing that comes to mind would be a type of  Slot Machine, where you stick an item into the machine and you have a chance to get an item of the same worth. Or you could take that one step further, and make a casino, where you could trade items in (Or pay gold) for "Casino Coins" and use those to play different slot machines that generated different items. Course that might be taking it too far :)

No. I do not like this idea. There would be no point in the game if you easily could get all the itemss.

I don't like this idea very much. It's just that the way you suggested it, it'd be easy to get all the good items with duplicates. Like Lucifer suggested, maybe you could give up multiple items for one. (Or just have a trading system for SO...)

I don't think I like this idea.

Not a very good idea. If this rule applied in Stick, look at Kbob, he wouldn't have had to wait for an IS, he would have just been able to exchange one of his 4 Dh's. And many people get more than 2 Dragoon Helms. Everyone would be running around with Inferno's. And It would make the game to easy.
