Apparently this is a bug. Sometimes one will spawn in the middle of an ocean on a tiny island with the nearest trees 3 Minecraft days away.

I've spawned in the middle of an ocean with no land for at least 500+ chunks. At least you have land. :/

Is it still in the appdata folder? If you use MCEdit and save, you can recover it. (though you will have lost your inventory when you play it again)

probly at some point I closed minecraft without save+quitting I havent bothered checking the app data yet but thanks for suggestion.

EDIT : Thank you Rayray, it is in-fact still in appdata so when I feel like It I can work towards restoring it.
