So, with E3 going on this week, Nintendo has held their E3 2011 Press Conference, and revealed their new console, the WiiU.  All in all, I'd say it's pretty damn impressive, if not slightly silly looking.  Anyone want to place bets on how long it takes for Sony and Microsoft to rip it off?

Nintendo won. Wii U renders PS3 games in 1080p and has an amazing new intuitive controller.

Every 3rd party publisher has incredibly high expectations on this, ps4 won't come before 2014 and a new x-box probably neither - To be clear: Wii U is getting all the new games like BF3 new CoDs and Assassins Creeds in 1080p, where xbox and ps3 won't even produce proper 720p action without lacking graphical features to pc versions.

And that's not all! The utopian (nice word, reggie ;)) nintendo first party franchises like Mario, Zelda & Co will be there too, of course!

Call me overhyped, but seriously.. Nintendo is back on track!

MS is screwing their HC fans all over with stupid Kinect casual games and Sony does nothing new at all in the home console market, Nintendo really won this years e3 easily.

I've been looking for Nintendo's Press Conference on Youtube.
Anyways, I love the console; hate the name
What would be the minimum requirements to play SO on my computer?
i7 core running at 3.6 ghz 16gb ram minimum with at least 2 x ATI Radeon HD 4870. Best played with full surround sound and a 30" widescreen moniter.

Sony and Microsoft have their work cut out for them, that's all I can say. Good job Nintendo, I might even consider buying this.... amazing :P Funny because I was just about to buy a Wii, now I'll just wait for the better, upgraded version of it :D

The only thing that concerns me is the weight of the controller, having a screen on it. I'd be afraid of dropping this thing, lol. Hope they make it really durable...

They may have won the E3, but lets see how good this thing turns out to be, and what Sony and Microsoft do to respond. Honestly I can't wait for however long they will take, so I will proably end up buying a WiiU.

Have you even seen the things Nintendo makes? Its all durable. I threw my N64 out a 2nd story window, plugged it back in and continued to play. My NES still runs to this day. The Gamecube controllers are indestructible. I'm sure they will do good.

I'm more referring to the screen, like if you dropped this thing a good deal (particularly on a hard-wood floor in my case). But you're right, I had a Nintendo GameBoy, DS, etc. and all of them still work... even after dropping them on asphalt/concrete numerous times, even if they did get scratched up some.

To be honest, I think the Wii U controller looks rather lame. How is a screen on a controller and a screen on the TV supposed to work out? It will be difficult to glance at both screens at the same time, unlike the DS. You'll have to constantly glance down and back up.

However I can see that it may work well with games like Tag or something.

You could simply just position the controller in front of you to where you are looking at it and the controller screen at the same time.  :-X

Anyways, I'm quite excited, Nintendo's FINALLY going to get as many(if not more) third-party games with this console. Can't wait to see how the controlled will enhance gameplay, too.

Looks like my mom's cooking.

@ Clock, at least its not purple ;p
Decent lineup of games. Luigi's Mansion 2 looks great! I am gonna have to get a 3DS when that, and Paper Mario come out. Don't care to much for Kid Icarus or Starfox too much.
And the wii u looks good. Its a little silly looking; but so was the wii, when it first came out.
(also amazed)

venuse

im really undecided about the new wii u. im really worried about price and i feel disappointed with the wii. i feel like in the last few years Nintendo has been more of a joke then anything, in my opinion. even the 3ds, which i bought for $202 used :), feels alittle gimmicky with the 3d which doesnt really add that much to the experience and is nothing more then a battery drain. if they can set a good price and provide good games for it i may think about it. otherwise i think i might look at the psp vita instead.

stick d00d

The concept of it seemed pretty neat at first, but now that I think about it more, it seems like a Wii controller with an added screen to the middle, and instead of the swinging around you have to touch the screen... meh. I'll definitely try this thing out at a store before I buy it, because it is iffy looking in price, as venuse said.

Matty_Richo

I think it looks absolutely amazing, I think the name might be a bit off but it's started growing on me already.
Good Job Nintendo, You win.
