There aren't many good oldschool platformers for the iOS devices, so I'll be sharing 3 platformers that I recommend buying. I'll be putting them in order from least to best.

Lars
Platform: Universal
Summary: Basic Platformer
iTunes Link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lars/id398351026?mt=8
Lite Version: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lars-lite/id433861222?mt=8
This 16-bit platformer could of easily been made for the SNES. It has 60 levels and can take several hours to complete. You play as an agent called Lars, a weird lizard thing. The plot revolves around an ancient relic that the evil rats are after. Lars is best described as a basic platformer with nothing special. However, it's still plenty fun and will remind you of the retro days of gaming. Lars is also compatible with the Joypad app, an app that turns your device into a controller.

1-Bit Ninja
Platform: iPhone
Summary: Hardcore Mario
iTunes Link: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/1-bit-ninja/id427083185?mt=8
Hurray, a Mario clone! Actually, it's more than that. This game would of been really short if it wasn't for its insane difficulty. You have 2 minutes to complete each of the 20 levels. You die in one hit and there are no powerups. Not hard enough? How about only being able to move in one direction? Yeah, now it's hardcore. Oops, too hard! Let's make it so you can view the levels in a 3D respective so you can find those hidden passages! If it isn't obvious to you yet, this is what you get if you take Super Mario Bros., give the source code to the guy who made I Wanna Be the Guy, and let him do whatever.

League of Evil
Platform: iPhone
Summary: Super Meat Boy's Rival
iTunes Link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/league-of-evil/id405552598?mt=8
Lite Version: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/league-of-evil-lite/id412165223?mt=8
This isn't the best platform game for the iPhone. This is THE best platform game, period. Nuff said...
...Fine, I'll go into further detail. Near perfect controls, over 100 levels, constantly updated with more levels, addicting gameplay, I could go on and on. This game is similar to Super Meat Boy with short speedrun levels and wall jumping like a pro ninja. Your objective is to kill the scientist at the end of each level by decapitating them with your fists. There are also briefcases you can can try to collect for an extra challenge. I HIGHLY recommend this game. If it had more levels and a level editor, it would be even better than Super Meat Boy. It's THAT good, and it is currently on sale for $0.99. Who wouldn't pass that up?
