About the company

Wolfire Games develops innovative, independent games for Mac OS, Windows, and Linux. It was started by David Rosen in 2003 to organize his open source video game contest entries. After graduating college in 2008, he was joined by his twin brother and three friends and Wolfire Games officially dove into the independent game industry.

I have never played the alphas of this game. But watching the videos make it look like a really really good 3D fighting game.

I got Lugaru in the first humble bundle. That's the only reason I have it. lol

Sister loved Lugaru. Sister loves Overgrowth thus far. (She pre-ordered it, and thus has access to the beta versions as they're released.) I've played it with her occasionally, and it's actually very enjoyable. The fighting is complex and satisfying, and works very fluidly with a gamepad. I'm looking forward to it myself.

I loved Lugaru and I'll probably love this as well.

However I certainly agree with the fact that it isn't a game that appeals to everyone.
