            It's one thing to post something new to a thread that perhaps others could contribute to and another to post mindless, obvious, crap that contributes nothing. Now I know I'm not the first person to tell you all of this, but while you are allowed to necro, take into consideration exactly what you are adding to the thread, and question "Does this really have any value pertaining to the content of the thread?" or "Would other people on these forums benefit from reading my post?" These are the types of questions you should be asking yourself before posting to ensure that you are not simply spamming, and will help you become a more productive member of this society.

I'm actually going to agree with xgamer here, I don't believe he really is spamming. While some of his posts may be a bit ridiculous, he is usually on-topic, and I believe spamming would pertain to him posting too much on a single thread. While he does a lot of posting, most of it is on different topics. And there's nothing wrong with being an active part of the community, which he is obviously trying to do. It almost looks like you're trying to deny him the right to express himself.

I'm actually going to agree with xgamer here, I don't believe he really is spamming. While some of his posts may be a bit ridiculous, he is usually on-topic, and I believe spamming would pertain to him posting too much on a single thread. While he does a lot of posting, most of it is on different topics. And there's nothing wrong with being an active part of the community, which he is obviously trying to do. Most of you are just making yourselves look like assholes (not anyone in particular) with the way you scoff at him for what he does. It almost looks like you're trying to deny him the right to express himself.

The term spam is also used to refer to posts that do not add to the conversation. Short, one line posts that say something along the lines of "I agree" or plainly obvious statements such as most of what xgamer has posted. In general, these kinds of "spam" posts are accepted without much thought. They are kind of annoying, but in and of themselves I wouldn't have even looked twice. Where the problem comes in is with xgamer's "double offense". Not only has he posted spam, but he revived an extremely old topic to do so. It's just frustrating to see.

And furthermore, I don't see how pointing out common forum etiquette in a relatively polite manner makes anyone look like an asshole.

In any case, I think xgamer gets the point now. I believe he knows what he was doing was not exactly accepted forum behavior, and I think he has moved on from it. So there's really no point in reinforcing these kinds of actions.
