ok.... I dunno if it's just me o-o

But for those who have played BOTH Mario 64 and Majora's Mask, look at this;

Remember ole Big Boo and his creepy merry-go-round?
Listen to that.

Now, listen to the creepy carnivalian song that plays from the House in Ikana Canyon

..... Am I the only one who's noticed this!?

See, what I find ironic is that Farewell to Gibdos is supposed to keep ghouls away, yet, in Mario, it's the ghost's song!

Chaos

I don't get it.  Noticed what?

Other than both sounding like a carnival music with the same instruments, they sound nothing alike...  o.O
Jake says:
lol, I found God! He was hiding under a big rock this entire time that lil jokster

Good ol Merry Go round, it's my ring tone  :P

I've never played MM myself and I was far too young when my older sisters played it, I can't really remember much. The songs are a quite similar, but there's still differences.

I partly quit SO. I only come online for updates and events. Have a good day. :)

Ah, dear old Super Mario 64... I never could beat that game when I was 7 years old, never got enough stars to make it to the top of that blasted eternal staircase. Thankfully, I got Super Mario DS (Esentially, a DS version of SM64) a few years later, and I finally managed to beat the game. I never expected Peach to come magically floating out of that little portrait at the top of the castle, I must admit.

Majora's Mask - I got that game when I got a Gamecube for Christmas a while ago - they were packaging them with this 4-game Zelda-retro-disk-thing. It had OoT, MM, and the original two Zelda games - for the NES, mind you; these were old. But they game with the Gamcube, and I started playing Majora's Mask. I never got past the first dungeon. It was quite irritating.

Buuut, back on topic. I kind of was expecting a completely obvious melody similarity, but at first glance the songs weren't really at that much alike - other than, as Chaos said, their carnival-inspired style. But as it went on, I'm pretty sure I heard some chords in the Ikana song composed of the melody in the SM64 one. However, I'm too lazy to check again. Maybe I'm just insane.

A nostalgic, if perhaps disputably legitimate find, Ciro. Glad to have you back, by the way.  :P
Whee!

God-I-Suck

I have both of them for my Nintendo 64, beat both of 'em :D
I don't recall that song in Majora's Mask, but nice find.

Apparently they were both composed by the same person. Yes, they're not the same song but they sound ironically familiar to each other.

XDDD HAHA! I just clicked the clickable link "The same man", who is Koji Kondo, and he has the same B day as me :3 http://www.zeldawiki.org/Koji_Kondo

And it says they sound similar in the Trivia here.

Pat

They only sound similar because theyre trying to create the same atmosphere and mood.
