Oh man, pretty excited. I just hope it isn't stale class-wise. I love these kind of games to death, but the last few I've played had the same generic classes between them all.

The company has released monthly updates on their blog, I've been watching them as they've come out since I first posted about them. Check out some of their stuff. If they hold true to their videos and what they're promising, this is shaping up to be one of 2011's best games.

The beta won't be "starting" until this Tuesday (or at least, the starting invites) - one of the developers said that it would be starting after they got back from PAX, which is on Tuesday.

Just got invited into the Firefall Beta. Sadly, testing is on Wednesday and Saturday, and I'll be out of town Wednesday. I'll give ya'll my first impressions come Saturday. (Well, I can't actually say anything about the game, but I can give a thumbs up/down at least!)

According to the NDA, I can't even say if I liked or hated it. So, maybe I liked it. There's a high probability that I enjoyed the experience. Perhaps I would highly recommend it. In all likelihood I will purchase it upon release. It almost certainly reminded me of a smoother, more enjoyable Global Agenda.

You are absolutely correct. I'm humiliated to have made such a dramatic mistake in my reporting. One single flaw and the numbers might as well be false entirely. I realized after you pointed out the flaw in my diagram that I in fact forgot to capitalize the R and G in "recommended games". I've uploaded a new diagram without the simple, yet detrimental flaw that renders my counts entirely inaccurate and unprofessional. Thank you for understanding and pointing out the flaw before everyone sees how horrible a statistician I can be when I don't pay attention to the small details.

Recent update is awesome. If you haven't tried it out yet, I suggest you do.
Edit: Just duked it out with one of the devs, he certainly gave me a run for my money.

So I loaded this up today. After an hour or two of patching that is. A whole lot has changed. There's a short little campaign now. New body frames. Skill trees. Etc.
While I'm liking what I've seen thus far, there is one thing that really upset me. They removed PvP. No more Tribes like arena fights. And they are unlikely to return from what I've been told. Which is saddening. Also, engineers are bloody op. Full groups of engineers are a thing, 3 turrets each. You don't even have to try :/
Yeah... long story short, only a small percentage of their population participated in PvP and as such they decided their efforts were better spent towards polishing the PvE. I was only ever interested in Firefall for the PvP myself, it was fast paced and pretty interesting - I really liked playing through different patches and class changes, especially regarding the medic. I believe they do plan on re-launching PvP at some point in the future, at which point I will gladly try the game out again.

Actually, yes. That's what I was getting at with "twice as good". Had to be a little vague to provoke some responses and increase interest! With how a lot of the text in game goes along hint wise, I believe the area surrounding Sunken Harbor will be the first area to implement the open world PvP for testing purposes.
Anything beyond this line was merely talk of possibility and not actually confirmed.
The idea that NPC owned factions could also own specific areas, players would join a faction, and then battle over areas (Think Planetside 2) the same way they do currently against the Chosen was also mentioned but they were still unsure about it. So no longer would you fight only the chosen, but now it would be NPC1 vs NPC2 vs NPC3 vs The Chosen. Which in turn could cause massive world events where the 3 NPC teams would have to group together to fend off The Chosen.
