Mr Pwnage

Well a bunch of people have been asking me about my textures, so I figured I'd post them and how to apply them in it's own topic so the Minecraft topic can stay to all ingame and server related things. This is basically a textural overhaul that doesn't miss a single block, inventory icon, single NPC, or HUD interface. So without Further adu...

How to get it: (Only for Windows)

Now because this is an HD texture mod that is 64x64 as opposed to 32x32, the ingame texture insertion feature does not work. So you have to do it the old way (which isn't that hard).

1. Navigate to your user folder. (The one with My Pictures, My Videos, My Music, etc)
2. If you haven't already, go to folder properties and turn hidden folders on.
3. Open the folder "AppData"
4. Open the folder "Roaming"
5. Open the folder ".minecraft"
6. Make a new folder entitled "Backup" inside the ".minecraft" folder
7. Open the folder "bin"
8. Locate "minecraft.jar" in this folder and move it to the "Backup" folder you just created.
9. Move the new "minecraft.jar" you downloaded from "http://www.mediafire.com/?a44ysra75kyjvrj" in place of where the old "minecraft.jar" used to be in the "bin" folder.
10. Your done! Launch minecraft and the HD textures should be completely functional.

*Note: Every time the game updates, it overwrites the "bin" folder with new data, therefore removing your mod and reverting it back to the old textures. Sadly at this current time, if you wish to keep the HD textures you must repeat this process every time the game updates. Also, make sure that you are downloading the latest "minecraft.jar" from this thread while doing so. I will try to keep it updated as much as possible.

Couple other things:
I did not make any of the actual textures, this texture pack is actually a collaboration of many, all that didn't work, assembled into one working unit. HD texture packs always break animations, but I have patched all of them so that all lava, water, compass, watch, fire, and so forth will all function as intended, making this an awesome texture pack. As of current, applying this texture pack will NOT give you any addition glitches or bugs.

Removal:
If you decide you want minecraft to look normal again, simply swap out the "minecraft.jar" file in your "Backup" folder with the "minecraft.jar" in the "bin" folder. Boom, no more HD textures.

ENJOY!

ARTgames

If you like it go for it. But to me adding higher rez textures seems to take some of what is minecraft away.

Scotty

The thing is, now it looks like a crap-tastic Quake game that is outdated and not any fun anymore.  The beauty of Minecraft is the simplicity in functionality and the limitless possibilities.  Adding these high-resolution graphics mods doesn't do anything other than try to make it look more modern, and by modern, I mean 1995 modern, which seems somewhat counter-intuitive to the simplicity of the game.  But hey, if it blows your hair back, I say go for it!

Mr Pwnage

Well as you both pretty plainly pointed out, it's all preference really...I'm just posting them up for those who wanted em. And Artgames, yeah I see where your coming from there. Using these though, I still get the same feeling...as they are still just 64x64 bit and still have a unique graphical feel to them. Of course if your still a sucker for the really simple graphics, you probably won't want this.

Guys, if you want to be able to use Mr Pwnages and still be able to use the default skin without constantly changing the .jar,
Default Minecraft Texture Pack
just place THAT in the texturepacks folder.

EDIT: Also, you misse pack.txt
it still says its the default look, but well, it aint.
i changed it for mine, but mainly because of that file above.

looks pretty good, but on that note? what happened to the front of my house?

EpicPhailure

Somebody probably activated the TNT that was stuck there.

Well I haven't been on Scott's server in weeks till just yesterday...and some trolls apparently trashed port town. Chaos has repaired some of it, but I don't suppose you noticed the lava lighthouse?

If you're reffering to the massive lava fountain I made that ages ago, but I couldn't get the lava to flow properly until the bucket glitch was fixed.

EpicPhailure

Well, there's been TNT blocks stuck everywhere in port town for a long time, but that's a discussion for the actual Minecraft topic.

Of course, I'm still waiting on a patch, but as soon as I'm done I'll update it.
