http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJReZRji7tg <--- Hilarious Video
http://transformice.com/en
Transformice was originally a french game, and has now been translated and has two english servers up and running. The objective of the game is to obtain the cheese, and get it back into your hidey-hold. Simple enough?
That's why there are twists. There are the mice, which get the cheese and bring it back, and there is the Shaman. The Shaman is the mouse that can summon things and help the other mice get to the cheese and back. Of course, they don't have to, as you can see in the video.
So anyway, some problems of the game is that the site experiences high traffic, so your browser may load the site slowly. Another problem is that there is no clear line between a glitch and a feature. I say that because most of the things that make the game fun weren't intended to be in the game. Conversely, most of the things that WERE intended to be in the game detract from it.
Now for the mechanics of the game that you'll need to know. You'll want to REGISTER an account, not use the first box it gives you upon successful loading of the game. That's for going in as a guest, and guests can't talk in the chat, nor can their winnings be saved. After that, it'll send you to a random official room (as far as I know, the official rooms are all numbered up to some point). To change rooms, do /room [roomname] in the chat, replacing the brackets with desired roomname.
Another thing you'll need to know is how to be a Shaman. It's not random. To the right of the chatbox, you'll see a points ranking. That is for choosing the next Shaman. It goes by highest points. After the current shaman, the mouse with the next highest points becomes the next shaman for the next map. The shaman of the previous map gets their points reset. However, it adds 1 point for each mouse that got the cheese back. Some maps allow for two shamans, pink and blue. In this case, if mice go into Pink's hidey-hole, then Pink gets points. If they go into Blue's hidey-hole, Blue gets points. Of course, you get to pick and choose (unless either shaman kills the other shaman and blocks their hole).
My IGN is Kainerok, and I frequent whatever server my other friends are in. I usually check server gg2 first when I get on. If no friends are online, then I go to room 42.
Oh wow, I've played this before. Strange game and I felt like an idiot playing it, but it was strangely fun.
Omfg this game looks hilarious. I'll have to try it sometime.
Not sure how its funny but I know I would not like the game. I dislike platforming and jumping objectives already. This makes it worse.

Oh, and you should learn how to walljump. Wanna post your IGNs?

I don't mind this game so much because the platforming part is not hard. But games like Mario I don't like so much because I'm just not good at them.
Playing this game, pretty chaotic..

There's not really much platforming in SO... There are platforms to be sure, but it doesn't really require any skill or have much of anything to do with gameplay. Whereas in this game (or as Art pointed out, Super Mario Bros.) platforming is a central gameplay element.
This game looks pretty fun. I played it for a couple minutes just as a guest to try it out. I was afraid the shamans would always be dicks as in the videos, but I guess the shaman always switches to different people in the room so there's a chance someone who actually wants to help the mice gets to be shaman. So it was pretty fun watching the shaman try to build contraptions to let the mice cross gaps or get up on high platforms, and then swarming the contraptions so that the shaman had a difficult time even building it.
It's funny because this game just shows how ridiculous mob mentality is. The swarm of mice is essentially controlled by a mob whose singular mentality is "Get cheese! Bring to hidey hole!!!" and for some reason all logical and rational thought is thrown away. There's potential for some great team building effort to happen... but it doesn't. I guess it might be different if, there was speech chat in the game and a smaller group of mice. People would be able to talk out the solution and guide eachother as they go along. Eh, just an idea...

You should see room 1 someday. It's always filled. If not, there's at least 90 people in it. Gotta love the levels that enable mouse collision.

Well it seems to me that people who play the game don't play for the sake of accomplishing the task at hand usually, it's more just to get a good laugh at how ridiculous the whole mess is.
IGN: GeneralWartz
That's true, though I think there is a bit of a tendency to actually try to play the game and get a good score.
Btw, anyone else have trouble with the site. Half the time the page doesn't load, and sometimes when it loads I'll get to typing my account in and everything and then the page reloads itself.
Yeah, it looks as though there's something wrong with the site itself, not just the English version. Anyways, Lingus, The person that is on top with points(The second window from the right at the bottom) gets to be the next shaman, or one of the shamans. The game's full, but I am horrible when I'm shaman. Ask Ceroblitz, he knows the extent of my abilities as a shaman in the game. xD
Right. Which is cool because it gives the mice an incentive to actually want to get the cheese rather than just dick around. But it doesn't give the shaman an incentive to help, and it doesn't give anyone an incentive to help eachother. It would be interesting if it were team based. I know some maps have a blue and pink shaman and hidey-hole, but I'm not certain how that affects anything. Does it give more points to the shaman who gets more mice in their hole?
No, it's one point per mice that gets into the hole. So if it was a map with two shamans, it gives one point for each mouse going into the same colored hidey hole of the shaman. If 5 mice went into blue, and 8 went into pink, then the blue shaman gets 5 points after reset (plus 10 if he/she cashes in the cheese him/herself), and the pink shaman gets 8 after reset (again, plus 10 if he/she cashes in cheese him/herself).
Ah, okay, so then that gives incentive for them to help the mice into their own hidey hole. Great.
Ok, I'll be the one to say it. I thought this was going to be transformers mice when i first read the name. xD

Of course, it also adds an incentive to eliminate the other shaman and then blocking their hole.

Oh well, it looks good. i might give it a go soon
Hah. I started playing this game a day after the post. Gotta say, it's quite fun. But the community is lulzy at best though.. But I kinda expected it to be like that- it's a free 2 play game after all. I'm not fond of the shamans that try to kill the mice either, but if it's a server where everyone is dicking around, I don't mind. But if there's just ONE guy who decides to be a dick, that's where it gets annoying.
Still, great fun. Reminds me alot of World of Goo, only with planks, boxes, ect instead of goo bridges. And the mice are goo balls.
The occasional troll plank or cannonball is fine for me though. Makes me laugh. It gets old fast if they do it on their next shaman though.
Fun game. The idea of a multiplayer physics based game is wildly entertaining, though it can clearly be exploited.
It's not like there's anything that can be exploited.
Actually there is. I hear that someone named Supermouse or something made himself be able to teleport or something. That, or he has really high jumps.
What I meant was that the physics engine the shaman is supposed to use to help the mice can also easily be used to send them plunging to their untimely deaths.
Oh. Well, it's the mice's fault if they aren't wary, and it's the shaman's fault if he screws up. The physics engine wouldn't be the problem, unless it's one of the maps that desyncs and screws up (like the cart level suspended in the air, and you have to run back and forth pushing the sides to gain momentum).
Trolling is too easy and painful, but pretty epic. Ign: Gist.
Also, how about a SO room, on en2 (/room SO)?
