I'm dreaming of a dark Christmas...

Alright, playing off of Aqua's topic and T-Rok's epic suggestion, I made this proposed suggestion as how to follow it up and actually MAKE this combined holiday, since the time's approaching. (@T-Rok: Because Nightmare Before Christmas is rather uncreative and borderline copyright infringement, I just took out the 'Before'.)

I realize there are a couple ways to go about this, the simple way which is much more likely to get in-game, and the ideally-added stuff-but-a-pain-for-Meiun-and-his-team-and-I-know-it-won't-be-added way. I'm posting both.

Feel free to add your proposed version of 'Nightmare Christmas', if they're good, I'll add them.  :D

"Simple" Nightmare Christmas:

? Regular spawning of all normal monsters
? Snow effect
? Halloween background, but with a Christmas tree added
? Regular spawning of Jacko Fiends
? Regular spawning of Ghosts
? Regular spawning of Presents
? Regular spawning of Deluxe Presents
? Regular spawning of Snowmen

I'd expect this to be added, all it is is a mixture of the two holidays with no new additions.

Mystery's "Ideal" Nightmare Christmas:

? Regular spawning of most normal monsters
? Increased spawning of Skeletons
? Snow effect
? Halloween background, but with a Christmas tree added
? Increased spawning of Jacko Fiends
? Increased spawning of Ghosts
? Regular spawning of Presents
? Increased spawning of Deluxe Presents
? Increased spawning of Snowmen
? New holiday hat(with some modifications, full credit to Looperpuck)- Ghost Hood (http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4522/hoodc.png)- drops from Dark Ghost(stats undecided)
? New holiday weapon- Flame Gauntlet(Ludacris' tourney weapon)- drops from Big Blue Blob(drop rate of Slasher from SG)
? New holiday boss(with some modifications, quick mock-up I made)- Dark Ghost (http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/2613/48969192.png)- HP of ~1/2 SG's, damage of ~2/3 SG's, drops Ghost Hood, Inferno Sword, Great Sword, Ghost Lantern and Shady Hat, spawns at Noob Town, temple, and mountain
? New holiday monster(full credit to 11clock)- Trick Present(looks like Deluxe Present)- HP of Present, drops Tree Branch, Fireman Hat, and Feather Hat, spawns 2 skeletons, 3 Jacko Fiends, 3 Ghosts, and has a 1/4 chance of spawning Dark Sage, global spawn

I thought we had a giant Christmas Tree somewhere. Maybe Newb Town.

We can't go without a Halloween, or a Christmas, so why not do them both!
I just hope there isn't some sort of compatibility issue that can only allow one event at once or something.

There shouldn't be, since Christmas doesn't have a unique background. It'd just be the Halloween background with the super-duper special snow effect on and the Christmas tree.

First off, thanks for actually posting the idea ^_^. I am thoroughly liking the "ideal" one. It sounds like great great fun.

No problem. Thank YOU for coming up with it. And the reason why I posted a "simple" and "ideal" respectively is because I know there's no way that the ideal is getting into the game, haha.  :P

Doesn't it though? I thought there was snow on the ground and/or trees and the trees have Christmas lights in them.

But either way, your idea should still work. I imagine the changes for the holiday events are not limited to a Holiday = Christmas or Holiday = Halloween or anything like that...

There could very well possibly be, I can't seem to remember. Anyway, I imagine it shouldn't be too much trouble, just a bit of copy pasting, not all the Christmas things HAVE to be included.

For events such as this, an entire new backround is loaded, we would have to do some editing to put the two together.

I fully realize this, and I think that because of this, just adding the Christmas tree in Noob Town to the Halloween background would cause the less overall work without losing a feeling of either holiday.

Not to slam, but that editing is so tiny that it's not worth mentioning. Just copy and paste the Christmas tree in the noob town. :/

To be honest Loop, the hood needs a lot of work. If this is to be implemented, I'm sure Chaos could throw something together quite easily. And the ghost should not be edited if it's to be enlarged- that kind of defeats the purpose of recycling the sprite.

I realize the hood needs work, I used it more as an example of what it should look like rather than the exact sprite I want in-game.

Also, if that's the case with not editing enlarged pictures, then why did the Sand Golem get a recolor exactly?  :-\ If the enlarged Ghost wasn't 'dark', the name wouldn't fit. Giant Ghost doesn't exactly have the same ring to it. And as aforementioned, it's just an example, not a perfect sprite rendition.

What I meant was the eye being red. I know it's been a year since last Halloween, but I don't remember the ghosts having red eyes... And these things I don't really think need an example. I believe that if any was necessary, a simple sketch with Paint should be sufficient to give a size reference.

The ghosts don't have red eyes, they have white eyes. But those wouldn't exactly fit a grayish-black ghost.

Again, it's a quick mock-up, in no way does it represent a final product, just a general idea of what I'd like.They could easily be black.

In regards to you saying it doesn't need an example, you're right. It doesn't NEED one, but I do find that it's helpful in conveying your ideas.

The "ideal" suggestion is iffy because you're combining your suggestion with several other suggestions, something you really don't want to do because it inevitably derails your topic into comments about those sub-suggestions. I do however fully support the ideal suggestion, barring the "new" options, which are not necessary and are highly unlikely to be accepted.

Don't get me wrong, they're supercoolstorybro ideas. The ghost boss is a neat concept, and the trick present is a unique idea. But you and I both know they won't be added. (Feel free to prove me wrong!)

Good idea but i dont believe it will happen.
For these reasons
1.Him comp is still not fixed (i think).
2.He would have to code this.
3.I dont he has the time (or would want to).

I remember mentioning(Not on the forum) this a while ago, but more so in a joking manner. I think this would clutter up certain areas.. Then again since there aren't items being dropped from the sky(Presents, and deluxe presents) during Halloween it might be alright.

I mean, Christmas isn't that far away, and that would be a lot to script and fit into one update. :/

first of all meiun has to get his laptop with his gmk license back, since they aren't being sold anymore and he only has very few unactivated ones left, he has to wait for asus.

I'm pretty sure they still sell Game Maker licenses... plus, this is just a suggestion for a holiday event, no one is saying it will happen.

Actually they don't. At least not for GM6 or GM7.

And how would GM8 not be sufficient?

Because, assuming Meiun used GM6 to create Stick Online, there are a few major core changes from 6 to 8. There is a chance they could affect some form of the game. And as we all know, he does not have the time, nor desire to put the time, into a game that is no longer being supported other than for donators to do large code changes.

edit: also, GM6 has smaller files than GM7 and GM8
