Oh yes, this time, it is no joke:

You have to be 18 to watch the preview and yet it only has rocks crumbling in it... Fail?
Yeah I knew this was coming for a while, but I'm glad they finally announced it. The game's gonna be hyped beyond the point of no return, and instead only be amazing.
lol@the cheesy ass song.. XD
Can't wait for a decent trailer.
Bethesda have said that they have made a totally new engine for this game and the graphics are meant to be absolutely stunning. I can't wait!
By the Nine!
Near the end, when Skyrim spun 90 degrees, I couldn't tell at first, but it said it comes out at 11?11?11 (November 11, 2011) I guess.
Fantastic! Oblivion was boring as !@#$, hopefully they'll have interesting quests and a delicious storyline this time.

Can NOT wait for this game. :o
If this game ends up being like what the trailer showed us, then this will become one of my favorite games.
Now imagine Elder Scrolls VI...

Time to start saving up for a new computer so I can play that shit at max detail and require a change of boxers every 10 minutes.
Can't wait, this and MW3 before xmas time then a few after and I will be good for a while. Graphics look amazing compared to Oblivion and Morrowind. Although Oblivion's models and textures weren't so bad.
Please don't mention MW3 in this holy grail of topics. Tis not kind to Bethesda or Skyrim, please show more respect in the future.

Been playing it for the past few hours, and I've concluded that my computer can not run it on max. Nope. Medium-High, but definitely not max, heh. Been quitting out every so often to tweak my graphical settings. Trying to get that perfect balance between graphics and gameplay quality. ;D
~Spoilers~
Pretty !@#$ing awesome. I've played for a good while so far, whenever I can drag my sister away from it. Its got all of the charm of Oblivion and Fallout 3, and less of their faults. There's less dilly-dallying (I.E. removing Repair, and leveling without sleeping), letting you get straight into the action; which seems more satisfying and enjoyable than ever. I've been playing the game on the most difficult setting, and it doesn't screw around; I'm forced to use up a good amount of resources on most fights, and sometimes I have to up and run for my life (Don't !@#$ with Giants and Mammoths early on...). It's not a giant dickwad like Oblivion with its terrible scaling system, and you'll occasionally wander into areas that once gave you trouble only to find that you can now one-hit KO everything.
I'm playing a very basic Orc Warrior type character named Bob, of course. Bob enjoys crushing rabbits with his Fine Dwarven Warhammer, and is working on crafting himself a full set of Dwarven Armor as soon as he gets his hands on the ingots. Bob loves his two handed weapons, they make him happy when they decapitate poor, helpless bandits.
I haven't done much in terms of the main quest, but I've made some progress with The Companions. I highly recommend them, they're very... interesting ;).
Game is freaking awesome! Seriously, this game deserves to get game of the year.

The game is pretty amazing, I don't know about game of the year though. The scripted sequences during the first half hour of the game are pretty bad. It's also amazing to me that the game can be so incredibly glitchy after being in development for such a long time. During my 10 hours of play time so far, I've experienced a large amount of levitating objects, creatures that randomly shoot into the sky, my horse getting warped a mile away the second I get off it, severe water flickering, and MUCH more.
I do have to say I love the content though. Seems very creative and varied, and the graphics are definitely improved over oblivion. I honestly can't wait to play more.
ive only encountered 2 glitches. the game crashed when i tried to exit a cave once, and some missing water in a stream. loving the game so far, although vampirism is really weak in this and just plain sucks.
FUS RO DAH!
I have a shit laptop with INTEGRATED GRAPHICS so I won't get to play this game for probably a year....All I have is the trailer music to keep me company:

You update your graphic drivers? Mind you, I've seen my share of levitating objects (and people) already, but the flickering sounds like it could be old drivers.

Does it?
I haven't encountered it so far, however I had the same first impression of being a werewolf. The fact that you can't use items in your inventory to heal yourself, instead relying on corpses, makes approaching most battles with it obsolete. However, if it's a large, spread out camp you're dealing with, it can sometimes succeed where potion/food spam fails.
I wonder if you can become a werewolf and a vampire...
oh i learned you cant marry a khajiit. dang it i wanted to marry a catgirl, guess ill have to settle for a lizard girl.

When I was approaching a giant camp. a mammoths all of a sudden catapulted into the sky and remained at cloud height for about 10 minutes before coming down. I've also fallen out of the map twice and the game has crashed without warning 3 times...
My char is a dark elf mage who is obsessed with electricity. Pretty sure I have at least all adept shock spells now. Loving the game so far, despite it's bugs, though.
Bugs certainly are there, however, for a game of such a large scale, it is to be expected, but it's getting patched, and also once the Creation Kit comes out there'll be an Unofficial Patch in no time.
I just bought it.... Excuse me for 20 hours. Hopefully I don't work tomorrow morning.

Honestly, it's not expected anymore. They've had 10 years to figure this out, but the same bugs that were in Oblivion and Fallout continue to persist. They need to stop getting ahead of themselves and focus on fixing their coding. Also, the PC version is seriously gimped when it comes to controlling the menus. I literally feel like shooting any developer that uses mouse acceleration or deceleration. It's !@#$in stupid. my mouse controls fine the way it is, don't change something that's already perfect.
As much as I bitch, I dont want it to take away from the fact that I love the game. It's simply annoying to see so many areas where things could be easily improved if only developers took their thumbs out of their asses. I mean, how hard is it to make an NPC say something other than "Ever heard of mudcrabs?" after he gets randomly attacked by two mages and barely survives. It's the subtle shit like that that really takes me out of the experience. Also, my drivers are up to date.
I'm up to two game crashes that resulted in power cycling and one BSOD from the game thus far. Effin LOVE this game! ;D
I haven't encountered any bugs or glitches so far, which is always a good thing!
But one thing that does annoy me is how i pretty much got insta killed by a frost troll trying to do part of the main story...

If you read the books in game about them, you find that trolls are OP. It is highly suggest repeatedly to have a shield to fight them :3

Same, pretty much 2 or 3 hits and I'd die, along with the fact that it regened faster than I could land decent hits on it. The delay after doing a power swing with my great sword where I pretty much can't move at all for a full second is REALLY annoying. Eventually ended up just going around it and outrunning it.
Also, kinda disappointed by the fact that there are no actual 'stats' in the game, unlike Morrowind and Oblivion. Gone are Strength, Agility, Speed, Intelligence, etc...
Also, disappointed that I can't sock a smart-mouthed brat in the mouth. Seriously, we still can't harm children? Did we not get over this bollocks with Fallout 3?
Also, disappointed that there is no Acrobatics or Athletic skills anymore. Some acrobatics perks to make dodging actually feasible in combat would have been a significant improvement. Come on, dodge rolling? Back-flips? SOMETHING?
Also, disappointed with the general size of the towns. Granted, I've only seen a handful of the towns yet, but of what I have seen, Whiterun has been the biggest, and compared to the towns in Morrowind and Oblivion, it's really !@#$ing small. I'm really praying that some of the other cities, like Windhelm and Solitude, are actually large cities...
Seriously, liking the game, and been playing it pretty much all weekend, but these disappointments are building up, Bethesda. :T
The only glitches I've encountered so far are some menu freezes when using my xbox360 controller, but other then that it's been fine. I like how you can get a horse practically vertical on the side of a cliff and it just stands there, it looks hilarious.
Agree with the menus, they definitely were designed for a console and it's something I will be looking forward to changing as soon as there is a mod for it.
So far I've only really been to Whiterun and Riverwood, for a village I was fairly happy with Riverwood, but as far as the big cities go, I'm certainly hoping that Whiterun was the smallest.
I do miss Athletics and Acrobatics skills, and don't like the fact that I'm not going to get much faster or jump much higher throughout the game.
I enjoyed the stats system that oblivion had and would have rathered they'd stuck to that, I'm fine with perks, but I miss Speed, Agility, Willpower etc...
Another issue I have is that taking books, no matter where they are, doesn't seem to count as stealing, what's up with that, though there'll be a mod for that I'm sure.
Jake, I do agree with the fact that there are a lot of subtle things such as people acting normal after nearly dying and often people just say stupid things that totally aren't relevant, and hopefully there will be mods and stuff that deal with those things.
Something I am really impressed with are the caves and dungeons, they look amazing, they are full of puzzles and really cool stuff, whereas I was a bit disappointed with them in Oblivion.
Also I haven't totally decided about the new duel wielding system, I expect it's something I'll have to get used to, but the fact that if I have a sword in one hand and a spell in one hand meaning that I can't block (at least that I've worked out) is something that bothers me.

I found places where taking the book is stealing. It's just that most books say "Read", and people don't seem to mind you reading their books. It's just when you hit the "steal" button while the books open do they get annoyed.

Well it's gonna be a bit hard to hold a shield and cast some complicated magic WHILE fighting to the death, don't you think?
Another thing is that when casting a heal spell while using a one handed sword, you can't move, i have died a few times due to this happening
One thing I've noticed, and I am unsure if this is true for all companions, but Lydia is a !@#$ing badass. I decked her out in the same gear as me, Exquisite Dwarven Armor, and gave her an Exquisite Dwarven Battleaxe. She can tank ten times as much as me, whilst dealing the same if not more damage. I just battled my way through a Justiciar Prison with her leading the way, since the Justiciar Mages would one-shot me, but she can absorb at least 5-6 blasts. She also spontaneously full-heals herself.
I'm beginning to think SHE is the !@#$ing dragonborn, and I her housecarl.
Also been running into a strange glitch with my two-handed weapons, where my power attacks will do normal damage and not use any stamina. Anyone else encounter that? It usually fixes itself over time, or when I restart the game, but it's happened at least three times so far.

Ah, see apparently when you attack civilians (b/c I'm an evil mage/asshole) your follower decides to leave and attack you...since apparently they don't like seeing people die... So yeah, Lydia turned on me and I kinda killed her....damn.

Which is why I left her in my Whiterun house. She's cramping my style. She also sucks at sneaking and kept getting me detected, lol.
(Playing a 'Ranger'. Focusing on Two-Handed, Heavy and Light Armour, Archery, Sneaking, and Smithing, at this point. :3)
I'm thinking I'm going to have to do that, its gotten to the point that I'm no longer running from or adapting to situations which should overwhelm me, and the game has become a lot less difficult.

Yeah, that's the other reason I did it. She just charges in and kills everything and steals all my experience. :T
Is anybody else playing on Expert? I find the standard difficulty for any bethesda game way too easy, and I have to say it really increases the fun. Dungeons take longer to complete, and battles take way more strategy. Unfortunately, I also end up using cheap tactics at points, but I try to stay away from doing so unless I have to.

I've been playing from the start at Master, and I definitely agree. I find the game the most enjoyable when I actually have to use up resources against difficult enemies, instead of just stocking my supplies and selling them. It doesn't make the game unrealistically difficult like Oblivion's difficulty slider, it just makes those difficult monsters all the more difficult, and sometimes you have to decide you just aren't powerful enough for the area.
im playing on adept and that is plenty hard for me.

I'm playing on adept too and I've died a least a dozen times now. I seem to keep running into things that hit me like, 3 times and I'm dead (seriously, !@#$ snow sabre cats and frost trolls.) I'm tempted to try hardest and just be a lot more careful. Though, I think that would probably cater better towards either a Thief cause they can stealth kill or a mage who can deal out lots of damage from a safe distance.
What 'class' are you guys playing? As I said, I'm doing a 'ranger' type class atm. Two-handed, Heavy and Light armour, Archery, Sneaking, and Smithing have been my focus thus far.
I'm going for sort of a warrior type, that's what i usually do in most rpg's, even though afterwards i switch to a mage as they seem to be badass in everything.
One-handed dual wielding, sneak, pickpocket, heavy/light armor are what I'm mostly looking at. So I guess a Rogue. Also, Frost Trolls can burn in hell. Took me 6 tries to beat one. I eventually made it chase me down the mountain and had it target innocent people while I killed it. Stupid Gray Beards.

Yup, I came across a situation that was part of the winterhold college quests, and realized that I just wasn't strong enough, so I left the dungeon. I don't think I've ever done that in Fallout 3 or Oblivion.
Warrior, definitely warrior. Heavy Armor, Two-Handed Weapons, and Smithing. I'm in full orcish armor at the moment, still swinging my dwarven warhammer; apparently dwarven is worse than orcish in terms of armor, but better in terms of their weapons?
I dilly-dally a little in Alchemy and Enchanting whenever the supplies for such make themselves readily available, but only occasionally.
I love enabling the orc's berserker rage and literally taking out a fifth of a dragon's health with a power swing. Badass.
~Spoiler~
Recent Epicness - Encountered a Dwarven Steam Centurion, and it kicked my ASS. I tried picking at it from afar with my pathetic bow skill, and it barely dented the freaking thing. So, I led it into one of the many dwarven traps laying about, slaughtering it outright :D.

Ahh yes, I have found it to be stealing now, I think the people i took some books from just really liked me so they didn't care.
I'm playing it on Expert at the moment and it's definitely got a fair bit of challenge that oblivion didn't have.
The game is so much fun. So addicting.
I started out trying to do a Spellsword style of guy, but I built him completely wrong and didn't choose the right race for what I wanted, so I restarted sometime in.
Now I'm a full mage, focusing directly on Destruction, with Restoration/Conjuration as secondary. I will say, I'm not leveling super fast, what with not getting as many skills up. Though, I've been mining like crazy, and I'll be getting my Smithing/Enchanting up really high one day, when I feel like it.
One of my favorite parts, is all of the intricate artifacts/quests that you can find. Anyone else found the Wooden Mask yet? I love things like that.

I'm playing a ranger right now... Just got through the whole Gray-beards thing. I dislike the dragonborn story, because every character is dragonborn... It loses the originality =/. If only it was optional, like being a vampire and various guilds...
Btw, I'm a ranger mainly doing Archery, Sneaking and Lockpicking, so I'm sort of a thief ranger... I don't have a chance in meele fighting, but the perks in archery (currently the skill is 45ish) allow me to kill a normal mob in one sneak attack. It's quite fun 'cause of all the sneaking and stealthy gameplay =D
My sneak attack with dual wielded daggers currently does (42+80%)*30(special armor+talent)+backstab bonus in damage. Being 100 sneak, I can get away with doing it and no one will even notice me. Soo, assuming my math is right, 1575 damage... Not including the backstab bonus.

I also minor in Restoration and Destruction.
Is this game worth paying money for? I remember really hating Morrowind (I can't understand how a small rat can beat a human in a fight, I just cant...). Is this one any better?
well im gona be honest i though morrowind was boring and overcomplicated. this on the other hand is more like an action game with rpg elements like raising stats and distributing points into a skill tree, which reminds me of a mmo leveling system. i actually think you would enjoy even if you didnt enjoy the others. but just word of warning you may find it hard in some areas, because some enemies are just plain tough to kill.
What the hay!?
Some guy named Pavo Attius got me to clear out his mine which was overrun by Forsworn. When I did so, he payed me 750 gold pieces. No longer then a minute after he walked off, I recieved a letter from some Jarl saying Pavo had died and left me 100 gold in his name.

Contrary to how it may appear, my character is actually the one doing the owning in this pic. Gotta love being a werewolf!
It's great except for the fact you can't pick up items or loot anything in werewolf form...

Welcome to the world of Bethesda games... Where lots of shit like that happens. Just today I worked with a bunch of soldiers to kill a dragon and the instant it's dead they completely forget about what just happened. The guy that literally just killed a dragon by not giving up even after he had been picked up by the dragons teeth, could only manage to mention something completely unrelated after somehow surviving the encounter. Honestly, if only he would have been like "holy shit, that dragon we just fought was scary!" I'd be satisfied, and it wouldn't even be hard to do.

You and I must be getting vastly different games. O.o
When I fought a dragon in town, after it had died, EVERYONE in town came out and gathered around its bones, commenting on it. Every person I talked to briefly mentioned the dragon "I never would have thought..." etc etc. This has happened a couple times for me.
Plus, when I'm walking around, guards and other people constantly make references to choices and things I've done with my character. They tell me they are cautious of my Destruction magic use, that they know me as the Arch Mage of Winterhold, that they are astounded I'm carrying Azura's Star around - I've had hitmen sent after me because I've stolen things... and not once have I heard of any mention of mudcrabs by the towns folk.
Things can obviously be improved upon, but to date, this is one of the best games I've seen react to the choices a player has made - in terms of the amount of variables and random instances. Games like Mass Effect and other, older Bioware/Bethesda titles may take the cake in story-altering choices, but I don't think I've seen as many react as well as in Skyrim. If anything, it is vastly better than what we saw/heard in Oblivion.

^^ This. I love it when I use Whirlwind Sprint say, in Whiterun, and the guards shout out crap like "My god! That's a shout isn't it!? Like the GreyBeards from wherever." Yeah my brain slipped a bit at the end of that sentence haha.

Just bought the game about a week ago, loving it so far. Anyways after doing some searches for Skyrim items, I found the Skyrim Wiki: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim) Helps a lot for items you aren't sure to toss out or keep and pretty much anything else you need to know. ;)
Also thought I should mention something funny that happened today. I was successfully owning a giant, and he caught me with his stomping attack which sent me flying miles above the mountains. It was a insta-death so I could only fly for so long before respawning haha.

It looks like they just warmed the colors and increased the saturation. It does look better, but I'd say 10x better is a bit of a stretch.

anyone have any experience with the 1.2 patch. im hearing some bad stuff about it. like that elemental resistance got screwed and that dragons fly back wards and dont even land.
Yea, I was trying to fight a dragon today, it kept glitching through the sky and wouldn't respond when I shot it at least 10 times with arrows... It didn't land once so I eventually gave up. (this was on the ps3 version)

Ok got Skyrim, and have been playing it a bit the last few days. Level 11 overall, and 40 in archery, 30~ in sneak, 30~ in short swords/ax (Im using something like The Ancient Nord Battle Ax of Ice[Fine]), and 30~ in blacksmithing. I'm having a great time!
Also I can beat Giants with my bow no problem. I dont see what the fuss is about them XD I just need a bunch of stamina potions.

I rely on sneak. All my damage is from the *30 sneak attack. When you get shadow warrior, you cast it and EVERYTHING targets barbas. And because he can't die they never ever target you. Lets you sneak attack everything.

When the game scales with your level and you have 100 sneak/pickpocket/lockpick and only 30 one handed/light armor, you need to be a little cheap to make it possible to actually play. ;)

I have 100 smithing, 84 sneak, 50 archery, 55 light armor, around 50 one handed, and 50 lock picking. Level 33.

Ok, so Im in the 30s for my good "sneak thief" account. Helping the Thieves Guild. Also started a Destruction Argonian Mage and hes level ~10.
But I haven't played in a week or two. Been preoccupied with Fallout 3 (level 12); I never played it when it came out.
I would have to say Bethesda makes some pretty awesome RPGs :p
I got this game recently and yea ive been enjoying it a lot :P. I actually rented it out a month or two before I got it and then I made a ranger type character. When I got my own copy I restarted with a mage character. Playing through the mage I realize the combat is boring and I don't find myself enjoying it as much. During the thought process of if I should play the ranger and dump the mage, I saved over the range. I want to play a sneaker character mage sort of guy but, I don't know if I should replay the 15hours ive put into the mage (Level 16). I know ive read people saying this is why they made skyrim with the certain perk system it has, so you dont pin yourself to 1 class. But thats just me. I dont really want to invest the levels to get perks in sneak and archery. I have also been saying I will probably get bored with the mage at lvl 50 or something and make the ranger, try and play from a different perspective. So, if you are anything like me in that sense, what do you play and do you actually enjoy it?
I'm a level 45 Redguard. 90 Heavy Armor, 80 arch, 90 one-handed, 80 two-handed, 92 smithing (made a full set of Daedric armor, going for dragon) And many other stats I can't remember the levels at the moment... I started out as a spell-sword but got pretty bored with it and went all-out warrior basically. I haven't played in about a week, been playing a lot of BF3 lately, but plan on getting back into it and starting a new character soon. Archery is really fun and useful, especially vs dragons, giants, etc. and the fact that it's easy to get enemies stuck behind obstacles. I went with the heavy armor mainly because it looks bad ass and provides great protection. Two-handed is fun but you can die quickly if you aren't careful. One-handed with a good shield is what I use when I'm not ranging/two-handed.
Bump for Dawnguard info. 10-20 hours of gameplay in the DLC, Xbox gets it first while PC and PS3 have to wait:
