Title: Hard drive failing?
Post by: Freeforall on July 19, 2011, 02:55:16 PM
Something really scared me on my computer. I don't think I have a virus, I scanned with 3 different programs.

I was just on my computer, and NOTHING would load. I went to my computer and it would not show my hard drives or anything. I restarted my computer and was greeted with a black screen in my desktop. I ended a task named bict.exe, and I came back to my desktop. That file has been running on my computer for a long time and I haven't had a problem yet. My computer has never acted like this. What do you guys think is happening? Was it just a one time thing?

If you're computer has been giving you this much failure, then I suggest System Restore. System restore fixes your drivers back to the time you select.

Draft up a concise detailed step by step process of what's occurring, and ask it over at http://superuser.com/
You should get a response in no time flat over at stack exchange, or at least that's been my luck with it.

Alright, thanks. I haven't had this problem again, but it still worries me nonetheless.

Well, when my hard drive failed, it would become slower and slower to the point where it would freeze and I couldn't use it anymore, and then I could no longer turn it on. Then it no longer detected my hard drive. And it's happened to me twice....
I suggest you back up anything of importance while it still works(if you haven't already).

Also, if it means anything, I have been getting this on random apps on my computer. A fresh restart usually fixes it.
