So, I was browsing tvtropes.org pages, spending hours just reading the pages, when I found myself on the "Hilarious in Hindsight (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HilariousInHindsight)" page, reading the examples under video games. One of the examples was this Gamespot April Fool's article from 2006: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146958.html (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146958.html). Hilarious in Hindsight, indeed! ;D
And for those of you who have never heard of or checked out tvtropes.org (http://tvtropes.org), you should. It's essentially like a wiki for various tropes commonly seen in movies, shows, books, games, and even real life. It's really interesting to read the various pages and keeps making you want to open up the links into more new windows, and you'll soon find yourself spending hours reading this stuff. ;)
Some of the commonly experienced tropes to get people started:
-The MacGuffin (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MacGuffin)
-Fridge Brilliance (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FridgeBrilliance)
-The Deus Ex Machina (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeusExMachina)
-Plot Armour (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PlotArmor)
-The Conservation of Ninjutsu (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ConservationOfNinjutsu)
-Rubber Band AI (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RubberBandAI)
lol, was reading the page about the Twilight series.
Known about this website for quite a while. It's in my bookmarks.
Ah yes, quite an amazing website. So much time wasted on it ;-;
Don't do it! It's like the "once you pop you just can't stop" essence of a can of pringles boiled down with heroin and injected into a web server.
You should see what it did to my biology grade. :'(
