Sad to see that AMC's "The Walking Dead" missed such a prime marketing opportunity by not doing this season's premiere today...  Shame...

C'mon, guys, this is the main reason why I became inactive for a while. Seeing that the religious hate on these forums is still going on, I guess I'll have to leave for good.

So how about we be peaceful for once and celebrate Easter for whatever reasons we have?

Probably Yankyal's comment, but then again, I could misconstrue your words to think that Jesus came back as:

Which would be not only contradictory, but also badass.  But what do I know, I'm just sarcastic, that's all.

It was mostly Yankyal's comment, but somewhat of Chaos' as well. I simply hate it when people look at Christianity as this blatant lie and morph it via misconceptions. I wish people would stop attacking Christianity when every Christian I know IRL aren't what people normally look at us as. This is why I hate religious discrimination. I have never attacked atheist beliefs and I feel like I am being constantly tossed around by them. I'm getting sick of it. I wish that more atheists act like our fellow members Mystery and DarkTrinity.

Honestly, I feel for you.  I mean it.  I don't recall you being one to try and force your beliefs upon others, and I wish everyone could feel that way, but it's a conflicted state everyone is in when it comes to atheism/any other belief.  One wants independence thus making obnoxious attacks on the other side, the other wants the opposite side to join them, and makes obnoxious attacks on the other side (or maybe it's the opposite).

My best advice, don't let it get to you.  Don't take offense to it.  Simply absorb it, laugh at it, and shrug it off.  It makes it a lot easier on you.  There's plenty of times I read the forums here and see something, not even specifically with regards to religion (or the opposite), but just things in general where I have to sit back and ask myself whether or not getting worked up over it is going to change anything, because it probably won't.  This isn't a case of "easier said than done", because it's not that difficult to stop yourself, ask whether or not you're wasting your efforts, and if the answer is yes, then back away, go get a Pepsi, relax, do something else, and forget about it.  I've done it more times than I can count.

I'm well aware of what a Lich is, but Liches are almost always villains in games, and comparing Jesus to a Lich is why I felt a little offended. I guess I overreacted a bit.

@Scotty: I've been trying this, but as someone with the nature of a fierce debater (even though I suck at debating), I find this difficult to do. I always feel like I need to speak out, no matter what the topic is. When I walk away from a possible debate, I feel very tense because I never expressed my feelings. If I keep my opinions in me, I feel like I will eventually explode from tension. I speak out to relieve this tension, but only to have it rise even more from debating.

Honestly man it's just a matter of maturity. I'd say a huge part of growing up is learning to restrain your personal ambition for the greater good. Whats the point of starting a shit-fit the neither side will benefit from nor enjoy? Fact of the matter is, despite which side is correct or morally righteous, if your letting whatever the case may be bother you, your part of the problem. Let live, let live.

I simply think "Lich Jesus" is more accurate than "Zombie Jesus".  And if you've ever played D&D, you can certainly have Lich that are good-aligned.

For the first time ever, you all will play witness to me agreeing with Pwnage on a public forum.  It's a matter of travelling the road less taken.  Sit back for a minute after you read my response and think about every time you've tried to defend your beliefs, and compare them against how many they have said, "You know what?  You're right 11'clock, I was wrong." vs. "I'm right 11'clock, here's why, you're wrong."  Sure, you want to defend yourself, I've wanted that in the past as well, but at a certain point, you'll see that there's a certain satisfaction in not readying dinner for the trolls through your attempts at self-defense, but only letting them question in their mind whether or not you've taken the bait.

Seriously, next time you find yourself boiling inside, itching to hit reply and slam someone or defend your beliefs against someone who would attack yours, stop, take a deep breath or two, and hit the back button on the browser.  I've done it several times on this forum where I've drafted up an entire response only to realize after reading it all back that what I was going to say wasn't going to be at all productive to the conversation, and was only going to act as more troll bait.  Relax, let it go, your pride isn't on the line in an online forum, since no one here really knows you enough to say that you are a disgrace to whatever you believe.

Basically it helps to take a step back and think before getting worked up or responding. What Chaos said was just a joke, we all know he's atheist but that doesn't mean he spends his life trying to make religious people rage. It also probably helps that I live with him and understand his sense of humor.
The reason I don't get into the religious debates is because I wholeheartedly believe that it is an epic waste of my life. We've all seen how religious debates go, there is never a winner. No one is ever "right". There's no definitive way that religious people can prove God does exist, just like there is no way for atheists to prove that he doesn't. Even if both sides present their best evidence, where does that get you? back where you started. You can't change someones beliefs, you can only change your own. Unless you're shoving your beliefs down someone elses throat, then I don't see the harm in people believing there's a higher power.

I already understand that Chaos was joking, but most of my frustration was with Yankyal's comment. Why I was frustrated was because I believe his statement is wrong and I can't point out why without starting a war. I'm already trying to stay out of religious debates, but it's difficult for me to do so. I've been able to successfully stay out of the Religion Thread 2.0, but that's one of many places where religious debates exist.

I have similar reasons why I want to get out of religious debating. Like you said, no one ever wins and it's a waste of time. I'd prefer it if everyone stopped flinging mud at each other and get along.

I should also point out that, when I made my first initial baffled post on what you were getting worked up about, I had initially misread what Yankyal had written, so I saw my post, where I was just joking around, as the only target of your ire.  I agree, Yank's post was inappropriate and irrelevant to a topic where we are wishing others well and a happy holiday.

Yank, if you don't agree with the holiday or wish to participate in well-wishing, then don't bother posting in the topic about it.  While I may not believe in religion, I have a number of extended family who does, and it's a matter of being respectful to others.  There's a time and a place, and this was neither.
