So, yeah, I'm working on a classic retro-styled 8bit platformer. There are some songs out there on the internet that I think would go well with the game if they had more of a blocky, retro-sounding 8 bit feel. A good example of the kind of style I'm going for would be this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFgboslz29E&feature=related).
In any case, I'd just like to know if anybody knows of any good sound editor programs with a decent 8-bit/quality-reducing function. Obviously I'm looking for a free program, but if you know of anything cheap, I might take a look at it.
And on a final note, I would prefer it if no one went and posted anything like, "zomg just google it rtard!!11one". I've had the same sort of problem with finding a good animated GIF editor, and googling such a problem had no satisfactory results. However, some of the people in this community had a great solution, and I still use the program they reccomended. So I'm assuming that this will save me a bit of time and effort, since a lot of people in this community are more experienced with this kind of thing than I am.
Oh damn, I had one it was really good too. If I find it I'll let you know, it really was cool.
Find your song in midi format and play it with this

Other than that your looking for a composer.
