My friend was looking into getting a Virtual Private Server, and he showed me this one at a great low price.

I think it would be perfect for hosting SO3 (as the server is going to use Java?), but unfortunately not SO2, as my friend said it uses Linux.
Anywho I thought I'd put that out there for Meiun and others who are in need of a VPS.
50$ a month?! thats alot

Doesn't really matter. Meiun is rich by now anyway.

Unless he's spent our donation money on beer and women *coughcough*.
50$ a month isn't too bad, for that, methinks. Then again, I haven't looked much into VPS'.
Haha $50 a lot?
Dude, its usually $200 a month. :3

i said nvm -.-"
I don't think we will have much issue doing significantly better than that once SO V3 comes out. We would also definitely be using our own dedicated server, not virtual private. Thanks for trying to help though.

:') My hero!
With Meiun already having a computer for this server, maybe it'd be cheaper for him just to make hardware upgrades rather than purchasing a commercial server?

The difference is that at a data center you have a much better product. It isn't just the quality of the machine, it's also the internet connection, support, etc etc. There are things you cannot provide to yourself by running a machine at home that a data center can provide for you.

What he said.
We will most definitely be going with another legit dedicated server hosted out of a good datacenter (maybe not right off the bat, but once it goes public for sure). That's the plan at least.

Who is the public? Us or people outside of this comminty?
Public ussually means a general public release. Meaning anyone who goes to the website can download and play the game.

Yup, that's exactly what I meant. None of this stuff is set in stone though. If it seemed like a good idea to get a kick-ass server before that, then I might. We will just have to wait and see how things turn out.
Do you have anything to say about epicfail's insinuation about how you've been spending our money?? HUH!?! Do you!? You'd better watch out, meiun! We'll get the union on you! We want stick-rights!
