All I can say was amazing, blown away and brilliant. I wish I could relive that night again, thats for sure :D
VERY talented band. Not my flavor (mostly the singer, his voice scares me), but John Petrucci is in the top three of the worlds most talented modern guitarists. All of my favorite band's guitarists combined cannot compare to the talent of Petrucci. Truly amazing man. I just wish I could enjoy the band more than I do.
Yeah his voice is definitely... unique. Trust me, its even weirder live, though I still enjoy it and I prefer it much more to screams (thanksto screamo for ruining that, *shudder*). Growls I can still stand though :D
I've seen videos of them preform live, and in all honesty, I've seen them slaughter some cover songs at their performance. Well... By they, I mean the singer. For instance, Master of Puppets by Metallica was one of their covers they did, and it was rock solid, but the singer completely ruined it, entirely. I couldn't even concentrate on the song to critique it, it was awful listening to him.
