Title: The Spirit of Christmas
Post by: Jake on December 25, 2009, 02:12:15 AM
Dear SO community,

Santa Claus is real. There, I said it. Don't believe me? Well, your living a lie then, because I know he's real. No, I'm not saying he's a physical being that traverses down your chimney late at night (or bashes down your front door in the rare case of no chimney). He exists at a much more tangible level, and that's our hearts. He exists in you, in me, and everyone who believes in the spirit of Christmas. He exists when we do a kind act for another person, while expecting nothing in return. He exists when we choose to buy our friend a 360 instead of a Wii. he exists when we choose others over ourselves.

That is why Santa Claus exists. Let us open up our hearts to one another, and become full of his essence. As long as he exists in all of us, the spirit of Christmas will stay alive. The next time you think "I'll just buy my friend a Wii, it's cheaper and he'll have fun playing Wii resort with the new 1:1 motion sensing technology", remember the phrase WWSCD. What would Santa Claus do. He would buy your friend a 360 instead (or PS3 because it has LBP and MGS4 and KZ and stuff).

Merry Christmas!

Santa Claus wouldn't buy it for your friend; he'd make it for your friend.

Santa Claus makes his slave elves work 24/7.

Dear SO community,

The Devil is real. There, I said it. Don't believe me? Well, your living a lie then, because I know he's real. No, I'm not saying he's a physical being that traverses down your chimney late at night (or bashes down your front door in the rare case of no chimney). He exists at a much more tangible level, and that's our hearts. He exists in you, in me, and everyone who believes in the spirit of Satan. He exists when we do an evil act to another person, while expecting nothing in return. He exists when we choose to buy ourselves a 360 instead of our friends. He exists when we choose ourselves over others.

That is why the Devil exists. Let us open up our vaginas to one another, and become full of his essence. As long as he exists in all of us, the spirit of Satan will stay alive. The next time you think "I'll just buy my friend a Wii, it's cheaper and he'll have fun playing Wii resort with the new 1:1 motion sensing technology", remember the phrase WWSD. What would Satan do. He would buy your friend a dildo instead (or vibrator because it has rechargeable batteries and stuff).

Hail Satan!

I got a fancy new wireless keyboard and mouse for use with my laptop and PS3, a bluetooth headset that works with both online gaming and cell phones, various gift cards, a book, headphones, money, a stylish charging station for all your gadget-charging wallet-storing needs, a shiny silver coin, and season 5 of The Office. My brother and I also received two PS3 controllers for when friends come over and a awesome new TV stand with all the shelves you could possibly want.

Good Christmas, all in all. But the best part of Christmas is spending time with family and sitting down to appreciate a quiet moment with the ones we love. Needless to say, however, the presents do not go unnoticed.

Merry Christmas, ya'll.

That's more than I got. :P

Anyways, nothing special happened on Christmas day. My family's policy is if you don't ask for anything, you don't get anything. However, that's not to say I didn't enjoy the festivities. I spent Christmas Eve with family, friends and neighbors gathered around our firepit in the driveway, which was the highlight of my holiday. ;)

Wii Sports Resort is quite alright in my opinion. You guys don't like it becuase your all hardcore gamers. I'm more a casual gamer, with a hardcore taste in RTS games.

Anyone who dubs themselves a 'hardcore gamer' is a twatwaffle.  Seriously.  If a game is fun, !@#$ing play the game and enjoy it.  Stop trying to classify everything.

I find it funny that this topic turned into a list of presents.
I somewhat agree what what Jake has to say, but I won't know much about the actual 'spirit' of Christmas for a long time.

Here is what the types of 'gamer' mean:

Casual Gamer - A normal person who actually has a life outside the internet.
Hardcore Gamer - Lazy shit who doesn't like moving and who rarely sees sunlight.

I'm the latter.

No, I kinda like it, but it's not one of my favorites by far. And yeah, people, enough with the 'hardcore' shit. Stop trying to classify every little thing. I enjoy gaming, but it is in no way above real life.

Hmm. Actually, I think it would be more appropriate if you were to say something along the lines of getting someone a gift that makes them happy, regardless of cost. I wouldn't even imagine buying someone a game system of any kind. I don't even have the money to buy one for myself as it is. Do people seriously spend over a hundred dollars on a single friend's gift? I'm lucky if I can spend $5-10 per person, a bit more for family members. As it is, we have moved to a "no gift" holiday. In other words, our gift to our friends is that they don't have to get us a gift, which we then get in return. This way, because everyone is broke and stressed out and busy, no one has to worry about it. In my opinion, it's probably the best gift you can get considering how freaking hectic the holidays already are. And really, all that matters is spending time with friends and family during the holidays. Getting gifts is secondary to the true meaning of the holiday spirit.

Actually for our families this year, we did just that. We took them out for a fun day. My family we made a nice dinner for them and took them bowling. And for my fiance's we took them to the Reagan Library where they were having a holiday evening. We ate dinner under the wing of Air Force One (the one Reagan used that they decommisioned in 2001). So that was really fun. The memories of those events will last us far longer than any toy or physical gift.

Anyways, I'm sure you were joking to a certain extent. I figured I'd throw in my two cents.
