I can't understand why the Australian version got so much censorship...
First off there is no dismemberment! Even the first one had basic stuff like cutting off arms and legs.
No blood on the screen! The blood on the screen is awesome as and many games have this that were approved for Australia.
No mud on the screen?! This one is one of the things that really gets me. I can't see why there would be no mud on the screen, it ruins the point of mudmen...
Disappearing bodies :( This sucks pretty bad. If I could get one thing into the censored version it would be this. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing the horde you just slaughtered all over the floor.
Security Guards in homo outfits and no military soldiers. I can understand you don't want people going around killing cops with crowbars, but having it in a game, set in a different country won't make people do it!
I'm probably forgetting 1000 more things, but I think that the point is still there. Does anyone think that any of this was taking it too far?
I agree, it is utterly ridiculous, If I were you I would just get the uncensored version.
The Australian rating system is seriously messed up. I find it funny that games like GTA IV and Fallout 3 got classified with very little changes to them, while L4D2 got mutilated. The entire situation spells out a shitty system.
This is why if your in australia, you have to get the computer version. A few simple changes, and you have an uncensored version again :P

It shouldn't be the governments job to decide what is appropriate for the masses, it should be the parents. If the parent dosn't like their kids playing violent games then they have an easy rating system to determine how to do that. So rediculous lol.

If the parent dosn't like their kids playing violent games then they have an easy rating system to determine how to do that. So rediculous lol.
In most countries the game is rated 18+, we do not have an R18+ rating so we lose a lot of games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_video_games#Australia). An R18+ rating would fix it entirely. Parents don't have to worry about their kids playing violent games and we can enjoy games to the fullest.

Wanna know what's sadder? ONE MAN is deciding all this. He's going around like his shit doesn't stink saying weither or not a game gets into the aussie public or not. Says that it's a 'necessary sacrifice to keep kids from playing violent games', acting like he's the guardian of every aussie gamer. I forget his name, but he needs to be thrown into a shark tank.
Whats funny is that Australia has a rating system that goes up to 18+ for movies and music, just not video games. They don't view gaming seriously, and it sucks for the Aussies who have to deal with it.

That begs the question, if they are having to moderate this for the parents, how many parents truly care? Someone's gotta step up, and apparently the parents aren't.

Have they even given the parents a chance to step up in the first place? I can see the government stepping in if parents everywhere completely stop caring about what their kids see, but that's just not the case.

No mud on the screen is probably a !@#$-up on programmer's side... They probably used the same system for the mud as they did for the blood... Easy way to remove it would be removing the whole system... Trust me, they really ARE that lazy...

Like cant they still buy the game from another place like online? I don't think its illegal to own.
The guy who opposes the R18+ rating considers gamers more dangerous than an outlaw biker gang and that groups who are working to get an R18+ rating for video games are plotting terrorist acts.
If anyone's interested, Left 4 Dead 2 is on sale on steam for 20 dollars. I bought it myself yesterday.
Guess I'll point out that the DLC came out 2 days ago. It has a new game mode called Mutations, which is a weekly mix of game rules. Each week a new mode will be put up and the old one retired, so if you want to play the current mode 'Realism Versus' you have to play in the next few days.
