I'm glad to see Stick Online is still hanging on. However, I am dissapointed that you still have to donate to be able to play. When I am old enough (which is much longer till then), I will donate to be able to play.
I have not been keeping track of Stick Online's progress over the years since it went down a long time ago (gosh I forgot the last time I played).
I cannot accept that after all this time, I am still unable to play the game I love so much. I was hoping that there would be a server for those who can't donate for whatever reason. I understand though.
Though I do not like it, I'll have to wait even longer for a server that is "free" for me. I will still hang out on the forums. Though, I don't think I'm going to get much enjoyment out of that, seeing that most of it is having to do with the game itself, that I cannot play, and so would feel left out if I even glance at those threads.
I don't know if I'm welcome here or if I'm unwanted. I'm back but I don't know if I really am "back". I haven't been able to help and so, I never really felt I was part of this community in the first place...
Welcome back ;D
Trust me man so3 will come eventuwally. I am sure meiun would be nice enough to make v3 free.
But there is a slight chance you may be activated if an other tourney comes soon. Usawally then hand out 2 or so accounts.
Why can't you donate?
You have money right? If not having a credit card is a problem you can buy one from like walmart etc.
Tourney? Free accounts? I would be very happy if they picked me.
Small chance, and a long wait. Your best bet is to go to any big store/convenience store and pick up a pre-paid credit card.
The majority of conversation on this forum nowadays is actually not about Stick Online, so feel free to stick around even if you can't play.

I'm sorry, I don't understand. You walk into a store, grab a card, hand the cashier and 20 and walk out. Where do you need parental permission?

I remember you getting spawned killed by the wall XD.
Your best bet would be to wait for your birthday/holiday and ask for one.

Some parents don't want their kids spending money on games.
First, many many stores sell them. Convenience stores even, I know the Macs in my hometown does. If you can't walk to a store yourself, grow up. Get independence.
Same goes for forum, if your parents tell you what you can and can't spend your money on, why do you have money in the first place? May as well be 100% reliant on them. The first step to growing up and maturity is to exert your own independence, do things on your own and make your own choices. Stick up to your parents if you have to. Don't sneakily defy them, openly oppose them, or have a mature, thought out discussion as to why you should be aloowed to do what you want to. If all else fails, simply ask them "Would you rather I spend 3 hours a day playing a 2d game, or do you want me on the streets becoming some druggie?(or insert other bad common stereotype in your area)
Wow. My opinion: Don't listen to Seifer. Btw, we don't even know how old they are. If my 11 year old brother did anything like that I'm sure he'd hear hell. He's not old enough to head down to the nearest grocery store (several major city blocks away) on his own. He can go to the neighborhood park with his friends, that kind of thing. He isn't completely sheltered... but there's limits depending on age and maturity level for what a child should be allowed to do.
And in my opinion, if I were a parent I would be asking what my child is spending their money on. Sure I would let them get things with their allowance within reason. But if I disagree with something they are purchasing for their own safety or well being then it's really only for their own good.
And I don't think the older more mature members of this community should be telling the much much younger members to openly oppose their parents. I like the suggestion of having a mature conversation about it though. And when that fails, listen to your parents.
Edit: Now of course, if you're 15 or something then this is a different conversation. A parent who doesn't let their 15 year old kid spend $10 on a video game is being unreasonable. If need be, I would show them a bit about the game and community to reassure them that this is a fun wholesome way to spend your time. Just keep them away from anything Scott posts.

Alot of parents do it for their "safety"
And theirs a thing called college fund.
I did not say to do it discreetly, I said to talk to them in a mature and informed manner, reason with them. I also suppose some of my logic would be flawed depending on your location. I grew up in a small town(10,000), and was usually out and about on my own, with my bike from the age of 10+.

Not all parents are the same.
Parents have diffrent "Rules" they want their child to follow.

Yea, that's definitely a factor. I can't see a kid younger than 13 walking a block in the city on their own. But in a small town, I guess there wouldn't be a big issue with it.
Anyways, I think we have made it clear on whether or not he can or can't/how he could possibly donate. But as for the actual situation of requiring them. It really came down to the fact that due to a number of factors it was just not practical for us to continue providing the current version of Stick Online publicly. The current server is simply available as a thank you to all of our donors. Making it public would require a great deal more time and money, which due to a number of factors (the main one being that I'd like to devote the time I do have for Stick Online more towards creating the new one) is just not practical at this time. The new Stick Online however will be free, although I am not giving any ETA's of when it will be publicly available.
I still think the best thing for him to do is wait for a holiday or birthday.
They can't say no to that :[?

I cant help but sit here and laugh. I dont even have a college to go to.
Itd be easier if you had pocket money aswell, then you wouldnt even have to do jobs. Im getting 780 a year in pocket money :D I have rich parents. It sucks that my mums a B**** though. It took me 3 months to convince her to let me donate. Hope you manage to sort it out though. I wants more people to play.

Some parents want ALL the money to go into it.
Than your parents are foolish. Your telling us that even if you do your own labor, they will take the money and put it in your college fun. This will ultimately deprive you of a lot of experiences you should have throughout your teenage years, as we all know full well that you need money to go out and do well.. anything. Without life experiences, worldy knowledge, all of that crap, you can never hope to grow up to your full potential.
It really doesn't matter what anyone says here. The parents are in charge of their children, they make the rules for their children, they decide what their children do until they are old enough to be on their own. More than likely, Legend obeys his parents' rules, no matter how unreasonable or unfair they may be. That's just how things fly in this country we call the United States of America. Don't like it? Not much you can do about it.

I'm confused about this entire conversation, it's all hypothetical. Tamer hasn't made a single post since his first one, and nobody knows his situation but him. Anyways, my opinion on these hypothetical situations leans towards Seifer. It's unhealthy to live in an environment where your parents control every aspect of your life, and I wouldn't agree with Volcom that you should just submit to your parents no matter how abusive their actions may be. That's what taking complete control over your child's life is, abusing your rights as a parent. XGamer, I don't see why you're getting a "rebellious" aura from Seifer's posts, he's just pointing out common sense. If your parents are doing something you don't agree with, talk to them about it, if they're being unreasonable, it's completely up to you where to go from there. Seifer isn't trying to promote anarchy, only communication.

I'm not saying, in any way, that he should submit to his parents, especially if their abusive. I'm simply generally stating that the parents make the rules, the children abide by those rules, or there are consequences. And you're right, no one even knows the situation because Tamer hasn't even said anything about it. Maybe it has nothing to do with his parents anyways, he might just be lazy. Maybe his family is poor. Maybe he is a bit young. I know when I was 11 or 12, I had to do some serious begging and convincing just so my mother would pay for a monthly Runescape membership.

I'm responding to the first 3 pages. I wanted to ask if any of you are parents. I'm sure most(not all) of you are not for clear reasons of being under age like i am (even though there is almost 1 parent in all my classes, but that's offtopic). I just think its good to see both sides.
For me every kid and parent is diffrent and i will respct what they think is best if its reasonable. But i would agree that if your kid is in the teens it would be wired for them to not be able to pay for this game. But hey i don't know the kid or the parents.
Ok wow. I am sorry for only making one post since I joined. However since stick online went down. I've had to find other things to do other than wait till I'm old enough to donate (and/or have permission to buy a credit card).
So I have joined quite a LOT of forums. Mainly to kill time. At least that was the intention.
Not only that I've grown an interest in reading fanfics. And I chat with an author of a pokemon fanfic every monday about one of the stories I'm helping him out with.
I've joined the marriland forums, Smogon University Forums, and more forums I can count. In fact, if you google my User name "TheLegendTamer", you'll get a lot of hits. Mostly forum accounts. Most of em are mine, some are not.
But point is I had and still have some obligations here and there that I've had to keep up with. My weekends are usually full. Which is why I replied late. And maybe not often either.
To respond to some of the hypothetical conversions you had. I do NOT have permission to go out about and alone. I live in a good neighborhood but the surrounding areas are littered with theives looking for quick cash. It's dangerous enough for it to cause my parents to fear a minor stroll outside the neighborhood. In fact the neighborhood is so cautios that they actually DO enforce the neighborhood watch and they do quite well too. By theives I mean idiots with with weapons who have no money at all and want quick cash. All they can afford are knives but then again, I don't carry knives.
Yes. Yayforlife has offered to pay for my donation and I replied to him in his email. I have to go chat with my author friend now as he just arrived.
Oh and sorry for the long post. I figured I'd answer as much as I could before next time I log off. Which is now.

Do you mind me asking how old you are and why if police aren't arresting these so called "thieves" that poke people with knives?....

Ok wow. I am sorry for only making one post since I joined. However since stick online went down. I've had to find other things to do other than wait till I'm old enough to donate (and/or have permission to buy a credit card).

It wouldn't matter. If somebody donates for him they just tell Meiun in the email which account to activate/create and as long as he knows his password hes good to go. His parents would never even have to know about it.
not quite sure but TheLegendTamer=my friend Juan not quite sure tho O_O and if I'm correct hes about 15? hmmm havent talked to him in a while
