Well the point was to make you not depressed. And he did a good job you must say.

Yeah, this guy is pretty cool. He made it through childhood despite being bullied, and having suicidal thoughts at age 8.

I find it weird how people with no arms/legs get so popular.

Will you !@#$ing GET OUT ALREADY?! Stop being such a goddamn downer. And if you dare !@#$ing reply to this, there will be hell to pay. You have been warned. Shut the !@#$ up.

Getting back on topic, I would totally love to meet this guy. He would definately teach some of the downers at my school a lesson or two about being thankful for what you have. !@#$ing dramawhores all over the place here.

This guy is quite possibly a bigger chick magnet than me (and those are hard shoes to fill)!  You see some of the hawt chicks in there!

but in seriousness, I think it's nothing short of amazing that he can do what he does, and even crack a joke over himself.  The first scene where he was goalie, and he shouts out "I wasn't ready!"  I just about laughed my ass off, not because I was laughing at him, but the fact that he could crack a joke at himself like that.  THAT is what makes him a stud!  I'm half tempted to buy his documentary, not because I need any self-esteem boosts (since I already know I'm the sexiest man alive... short of this guy), but I just wanna hear him talk about how can fish with no arms, or crawl up to the top of the water slide, and make fun of himself while doing it!  That is what makes him awesome!

That was kinda asshole-ish. You know lots of people where thinking it, but it was kinda rude to bring it up. The only thing you manage to get out of that inspirational video was "How was he able to jack off?" That makes me angry.

Yeah, I was asking myself that as he was talking about water slides. Maybe he swims fish-style, using his fin.

The thing is, he was born that way.  It's just like being deaf.  You adapt and overcome, and he's a prime example.  He said it himself, he doesn't have to sit there and say "I wish I had arms", because it doesn't change anything.  I might as well sit here and cry myself to sleep knowing that I'll never grow wings so I can accomplish my childhood dreams of being able to fly.  Sure, he won't be able to drive, he won't be able to jog, and he probably has a hard time using a computer, but how is that any different than being blind your entire life.  There isn't anything you can do about it, so why get all bent out of shape over it.  I think that is the message he is trying to tell people.

It's all about perception guys. It's like dead is dead. Sure, one guy could have a heart that stopped, the other guy could have been blown into bits. That second guy isn't MORE dead, he's just dead. You also have to look at it from different ways. Maybe he had a loving, supportive family. A wealthy family. One that was able to do for him what he wanted, what he needed, so that despite his dysfunction, during his time spent at home, he could have some happiness. Sure, at school during his childhood he would have been miserable, but he could have had a happy life when he got home, assuming he could come to terms with his disability. Another person could perhaps have had a miserable situation both in his family and out, so that there was no retreat for this person.

Or, perhaps though he faced much ridicule from his peers his did not face physical beatings. His hardships could have been fully mental and emotional, not physical.

We could also look at the up sides of his downside. He has a lot more spare time to do the things he wants to do. Sure, he can't go outside and run around, but there are plenty of things he could do. Watch tv, read, play games, movies, computer, etc etc etc. He has a lot more spare time to do these things than say, someone who has to work 8 hours a day from the age of 14 on wards to make sure he goes to bed with a full stomach and have spending money.

All about perception fella's.

Yep, all happiness is relative. Being born without limbs is much better than being born with limbs and losing them.

Yes, that's fine and dandy, but you're claiming you have it worse/similar. We don't know of the mental anguish he went through (other than the fact that he considered suicide at 8 years old), so saying any one of us has had it as bad as him really doesn't make a lot of sense. It's a burden for me to wake up in the morning, I'm miserable, I'm in my own personal hell, yet he could still have it worse than I do. The thing is, you nor I or anyone can make that call because we don't know the full extent of what he went through.

I'm not saying you haven't had it bad btw, I'm saying it's impossible to make a comparison.

Your claim is based on the fact that you assume he had a happy home life. You don't know what else he went through besides being born with no limbs. That in itself is pretty damn bad. As someone else pointed out, the fact that he considered suicide at age 8 (AGE EIGHT!!) kinda tells you something.

You can't compare your life to his just as someone else can't compare your life to anyone elses. But, at the same time I find it hard to believe that someone your age with what seems at the surface to be a relatively normal life, could have had such a hard time. I'm not judging... I'm just saying if you really did, then I'm sorry.
