A mod said this was OK, so don't drop the righteous ban hammer on me.

I guess this thread is to post things that you don't deem worthy of creating a thread over, but want to say anyways.

For example: Emma Watson is a goddess and if I could do anything and succeed, it would be to own her and everything she's ever touched. I'm also fine with Zooey Deschanel. They're both so amazing that the first thing I do on every computer I come across is add their names to the SpellCheck dictionary. I carry a 200mb album of both of them around on a flash drive if I am going out. I have memorized the megaupload URLs of a ~500mb collection of pictures of each of them. NO, I do not obsess with them at all times. It's just something I do...ya know?

Also, I hate death metal with a passion. I am convinced no one actually likes it, but they listen to it so they can appear hardcore. Music taste is an opinion, and I'll respect that, except when it comes to death metal. Damn.

Just needed to get that off my chest guys. Your turn!
Isaiah 13:15-18
Exodus 21:15
Deuteronomy 17:12
Leviticus 20:10

If I didn't enjoy it, then I probably wouldn't listen to it for 5 years.

I've yet to like this kind of heavy metal scream-o type of stuff, maybe it's an acquired taste, I just don't have it.

Oh it's definitely an acquired taste, I don't question that.  I used to hate it, HATE. IT.  My team leader in Iraq was all into it, and it drove me bat-shit crazy having to listen to it.  Seriously, we had to install a DC->AC converter in our vehicle to power all the equipment we had to truck with us, and he figured that since we were hand delivered a powerful converter that wasn't even getting tapped hardly with our gear, we should install a crappy Indian home theater system in it, full surround sound and everything, just so he could blast his death metal.  I must've lost hearing every time we wrapped up a terrorist and he'd blast his victory song which honestly scared the shit out of the locals when a song was actually heard through a 4-ton bucket of steel.

It grew on me by the end of the deployment, as I started to listen to a few bands (specifically In Flames) where I started to pick up on a lot of the musical talent of the genre.  By the time I got back state-side and the girlfriend left me within 24 hours, this aggressive style of music was the shit!

Edit: If you want to see what death metal is without the screaming vocals, rather a screamer vocalist who exercises his god-like clean vocals, here's a good example to get you started: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAAXK3Mzm2k (same guy that does clean vocals in my previous post)

I'll just leave this here.

@Scotty: I like me some Alexisonfire, Bullet For My Valentine and Escape The Fate. Other than that though not a huge screamo fan.

There are also a variety of different styles and blends of "metal"/death metal vocals, which really can sound quite different. There are a number of styles that I personally don't care for much at all, then some others that I absolutely love. I actually totally agree that there are a ton of Metal/Death Metal bands that are AWFUL, but generalizing a whole genre is a bit ignorant.

Oh, and "screamo" and metal are definitely not the same thing. At least not in many cases.

Edit: Oh, and Scott, did you ever get that song I sent you via facebook a while back featuring In Flames? Was a pretty sweet one, heres the link if your interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZGJrYPMkNI It's actually the band "Pendulum" that just happens to be featuring In Flames in this song. But as far as I could tell, it might as well be In Flames featuring Pendulum (vs the other way around) for this one.

Also, Yankyal, you may want to consider removing the word "official" from the topic name. Not really a big deal, but official sort of implies it was made by the website staff or something like that.

I did.  It was good.  I couldn't tell how much In Flames was integrated into the song, as the style is off quite a bit from their sound, and couldn't honestly pick out the guitarists or drummer as being In Flames, more or less just Anders on vocals.  Good piece though!

I never caught on to those bands much (Bullet being the exception), as I have to echo what Meiun said, screamo is quite different than death metal.  Screamo is more or less a bastardization (if you could call it that) of emo, only including predominantly screams for vocals, as opposed to sobbing clean vocals (neither genres do I care much to listen to).  Death metal usually encompasses emphasis on aggression and intricate and often technical instrument playing.  If you want to split off into any one of the derivatives (melodic, black, etc...) each adds a bit more to those two founding concepts.  Melodic death metal often includes the use of sweeping keyboard effects (or at least mastered in), and although not always incorporated, use of a wide range of vocals, be it anything from growls to clean and everything in between.  Black (death) metal on the other hand predominantly uses an enormous amount of orchestrated parts, to include keyboards, and seemingly emphasizes more on theatrics and such with predominant screeching vocals as well as heavy bass driven tone.  A good example of Melodic Death Metal vs. Black Metal would be Soilwork vs. Dimmu Borgir respectively.

Edit: Well played Lucifer!

Guys, when I look at this thread it says for the title:"Official ""SPAM"" Thread". But when I look at from the main forums, where you see "last post by Scotty in Scotty's death metal take-over of an otherwise useless thread. What is this trickery!??!

[Edit]Ah, I see now.

Holy shit. This was one of Pendulum's official songs? That's pretty awesome, got to admit.
