I did a bit more work and switched out the background and the theme.  Pwn gave me the idea of using this for my background.  The window look and screenlets are still the same though (ain't freakin' touching all those screenlets after putting that much time into them).

And here is the result:

Damn, that's an awesome concept for a wallpaper...I actually had no clue windows allowed for such things...but after some research they sure enough do. I think I may use this as my wallpaper...so freakin cool.

That's Linux.

EDIT:  All you code monkeys wish you could script while watching a movie on the same monitor, with windows maximized!

Mad respect for anyone who can name the band, or even better, the last name of the two guitarists!

Ty for the new shot of how it might look while using it. I hate it! there. I dont like the colors or anything. But im not using it. I feel I would like the look of the old screen shot u had. also is that the new 10.whatever ubuntu?

Yes, 10.04 LTS (Lucid).  Keep in mind the amount of modifications I've made are substantial.  If you were to install Ubuntu, the stock installation comes looking a whole lot different and basic.  That's the wonders of GNOME (and everything linux) being open source, the possibilities are endless as they've very well demonstrated!

I got that new 10.whatever on this old PC and I must say the default look looks like it turning into the mac side of things. Its ok. Its just too hard to get good hardware support for my stuff for that os.

Can't let Scotty steal the spotlight.

As a side note, at one point I had all those desklets, all that stuff, the useful information on the screen in various places, but eventually I found it rather pointless. Even if I could click on a hard drive on my desktop to navigate, I was too stuck in my old ways of clicking my "folder" icon as you will see below, which opens up my folder nav. This ideal translates to most of the desklets. Do I really need the weather on my desktop? I never check the weather normally, and I have a window beside me if I'm curious. My CPU's speed and output? Really, who cares? I know my CPU is damn powerful, and I never get it close to maxed out anyways.

Hey what is ur cpu speed?

Seifer

I have a q6600, quad core 2.4 Overclocked to 3.2. That's 12.8ghz

And your computer's still stable?

lol nice try but you still handle your over all cpu speed as its main speed aka 3.2 ghz then. Just becase you have 4 tires moving at 60mph does not mean the car is going 240mph. :P Lol I'm going to get a hyperthreaded duel core P4 at 3ghz and say I have a 12ghz cpu.

Not bad at all for a q6600. I have one at default (2.4 ghz) clock speeds. I wish I could OC mine like yours. :(

I still rather have a higher end I7 if i did have a choice. I like the automatic OC for cores. That will help a lot for old games.

I'd be curious to see when if ever you actually needed that much...  Mostly because I'm not buying that your computer has not melted if you have in fact used all of that.  How much extra did that cost you?

EDIT: And nice analogy Art, couldn't have put it better myself.

This is my case http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2699

This is my CPU fan http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=31&lng=en

Both are some of, if not the best in cooling out there. 100% on the CPU fan/heatsink.

My Case is full of fans, in a great airflow setup.

Also, the q6600 is well known for how well it Overclocks. If you look here http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2007/07/25/overclocking_intel_core_2_quad_q6600/3 you will see some attempts and professional review of overclocking it. And for your information, I have the same MoBo.

So yes, I can OC to 3.2. I usually bring it down to 3.0 unless I'm doing anything seriously hardcore, but I've kept it stable at 3.2 for weeks on end at one point.

Love the backround. Have you ever read the Dexter series, Seif? I watched three seasons of Dexter, then read the first two books. If you haven't read them, they're !@#$ing amazing, way better than the series if you can believe that, and also much different.
