That's the thing, I would call it marketing scheme.

Why?  The developers are still getting a cut on the money.  A majority is in fact going to charity, but there's no middle man in-between to filter through the cash and horde it for himself.  Even better though, is that I consider it marketing because they are trying to sell their products.  Albeit it's for a slightly different cause, but none the less, they are trying.

And bullshit on it not working. They have as of current already made $404,844 between 51107 donors. I bought it for $25.
My question to you is why pay $25 to buy these games when you could just as easily pay a cent for them and give $24.99 to a better, non-profit charity?

Because we all know that you WONT give $25 to another charity. Also, some appreciate that they are even doing this, and are aware that these games are still worth good money lol.

I went ahead and did it. Havn't played them all yet, but so far they have some fairly good stuff, especially considering the potential deal.

First off I'm pretty sure the minimum is a dollar. And second, I payed $25 because I really support this method of marketing they are doing, and having played world of goo for Wii, and the first Penumbra and loving them, I figure I won't be a cheap ass and show some appreciation for what they are doing. So $25 it is.

Actually, I think you determine where the money goes to. That's the way I read it. You decide whether you want your donation to go to charity, or to the developer, or a combination thereof.

But actually, it's probably still considered a marketing scheme... it's really just symatics. It's just not a "shady" marketing scheme. It's a good natured one.

Quote from: WikipediaMarketing is the process by which companies determine what products or services may be of interest to customers, and the strategy to use in sales, communications and business development. It is an integrated process through which companies create value for customers and build strong customer relationships in order to capture value from customers in return.

A very skewed interpretation of marketing, but marketing none the less.
