Title: New Weapon Idea: Leaf Blade

So, I got bored last night and thought I'd try to make a weapon.  More geared for v2 as I don't know what v3's style is.  My first one, so, go easy. (Eventhough I know it's hard for you guys to refrain from pointless comments.) ;)

Called a Leaf Blade.

How I imagine it will attack is it will have two motions; a downward and an upward.  Most likely hitting two targets. 

I can see it doing slightly more damage than a katana and possible 13-15 or so stam usage.  Probably a short cooldown as well, so, slower than a katana, but not as much as a WH. Probably more along the lines of a SS.

I'd also suspect it would drop from a BBB.  More rare of a drop than a WH from a BBB.

I tried making an animation of the general attack, but, as you can see below, it didn't turn out too well. But, I think it gets my point across about the two striking motions. (Do not say how much the animation sucks, I know it isn't the greatest, but, if anyone wants to take the sprite and make a good animation, go for it.)

The inventory sprite is really cool, the animation is choppy and unrealistic. The stickman shouldn't be standing straight up for the whole animation and the leg movement doesn't make sense either. Try swinging an imaginary sword in real life and use that as a basis. Your leg doesn't come off the ground and most of the movement should be in the upper body.

Animation was just to give a slight idea of how I imagine it attacking. I know it's awful, as it was stated in the first post.

Ha, I think that would be a pretty cool weapon. Even if it was a noob weapon i would still have it in my inventory. Nice job! ;)

Very nice. Now this is a sprite I can say that I'd actually like to see in-game.

Bravo.  Looks awesome, good sir, and you didn't make the classic mistake of putting the weapon in front of the head, making the sprite unusable.  I would support this to be added.

Been sitting here staring at the last few posts that have the animation in it for a few minutes. It starts to mess with your mind. O_O Or maybe thats the 4am side effect. Who knows, still looks sweet.

Neato, very eye-friendly colors and design. Love the animation Pin, awesome community collaboration there ;D. I like the concept as well, IS and LSB being two of the rarest weapons (if not both being the rarest), it'd be great for there to be a slightly more common multi-hit weapon.

Its a bit shaky, and it seems the sword as pin animated looks insanely heavy, requiring the back to be heaved when swinging the sword.

Sorta the opposite of "leaf" blade, don't you think?

I'll be making my version soon :p

ok, now there is absolutely no reason, why this shouldn't be implemented.
Great work, qualitywise even a bit ahead of the slasher/hyperion in my honest opinion.

Personally I like the idea of the weapon, and think the attack speed of the weapon is pretty cool... If implemented, it should hit twice per animation, one for each slash, with a fairly low attack damage.

I wouldn't mind having another weapon to endlessly grind for.  :P

Doesn't mean you have to stop? lol It should have a lower damage than GS per single hit, but if both hit it should be higher. At least thats my opinion.

Well I still think they should drop by the ones suggested before. In terms of use, I also think it should be similar to Spire (it sucks without a decent amount of X [X being a specific stat point])

If I was going to compare it to anything, I'd say it is a multi-target hitting katana or short sword.

Somewhere inbetween (Kat does 16, SS does 20, so it should do 18 per slice) Although thats slightly less than GS, it wouldnt be a slow wep

Kind of what you guys have said, I think it should have slightly more damage then katana, but less then short sword, having the re-use rate being the same as katana yet also hitting 2 target, 1 on the down swing and 1 on the up swing potentially meaning you could miss your second swing although animation is incredibly quick meaning the monster would have to be moving away from you before you started your attack (on most cases).

In any case the exact statistics wouldn't really be up to the community, Meiun would have the final say on balancing issues. A general layout is fine, but don't get too involved in the specifics. I'm interested to know if Meiun is actually accepting user-made sprites for the donor server, thus far I haven't seen any comments by him on the subject matter, but I would assume the answer would be yes considering Metal_Mat's Slasher.

From memory slasher was going to enter the game as seifers gm weapon before the public server went down.

Id like this weapon to be acquirable in game. Hopefully not as rare as spire either, I'd like to be able to casually play and be able to get nice drops. Not grind my life away trying to obtain a new tier weapon like the spire (that shit is ridiculous, only players who grind away their life can manage to obtain said item). However I realise there is nothing else to do in SO except level, grind for items and pvp. But the pvp isn't as fun as it used to be because of how hard it is to get a new tier weapon and the people who are lucky enough to obtain these items are no match for players who don't have them.

Oh boy that turned into a rant...but yes it'd be nice to see a new weapon ingame again.

I like this weapon, and I feel thats it's very well sprited.


I actually really like the idea of having each hit the power of a short sword/katana or some where in the range.
Being able to land 2 hits that fast, or missing one and hitting one would make pvp with it interesting.

I really like igufed's inv icon of the wep, looks pretty cool. In addition, for a novice spriter, not too shabby ;)

For Pin's animation, although it's very well done, I'm not sure I could see it in-game? Maybe my imagination just sucks :P Either way, good job to both of you.

It got kind of over-looked...

I posted this new icon sprite on page 2 to better match Pinball's interpretation of the weapon. (Not that there is anything wrong with Igufed's, but when Pinball animated it, it went from a blade/sword to more of a shorter/slashing weapon like a katana....which personally I think is better anyways seeing as it is supposed to be a swiftly swung, fast weapon.)

Well, the way I thought it should be is just hitting 2 targets, not two times.  A few others I guess thought just because it had two swinging motions in the attack animation, it should hit twice; but that wasn't what I had in mind.

There's a difference of hitting twice and hitting two targets. The hitbox for 2 targets has 2 points. Each target it touches, it loses a point. When the points hit 0, it vanishes. I know how hitboxes work -_-" The point isn't to hit two targets, its to attack twice per swing giving a chance for the second swing to miss.

What makes you think this wasn't suggested already? If this was possible, I think it would've already been implemented. I agree it would be very cool, but something tells me if this wasn't added when the servers were public there's little to no chance of it being added now.

It is possible, it isn't hard at all.  It hasn't been done because it's a very risky proposition for balancing issues, and because I never made a weapon that would make sense for striking twice (other than Meiun's guns.  Not sure why it wasn't used in that regard.)

Meh, all I want to say is that I'm sure it won't be added. It's something not worth implementing if it already isn't, and I'm sure you guys would've made it already if it was as easy as you mention.

I'd like to be proven wrong though, don't get me wrong!
