Ya'll want to know the secret to not getting viruses? It's incredible, I learned it after years and years of personal experience. These five words will prolong the life of every computer you'll ever own: Don't be a !@#$ing idiot. Don't download russian midget shemale porn, don't download hacks for games, and don't download shit from obviously suspicious emails or websites in general. I've been torrenting games without an antivirus or firewall for years. Antivirus programs have always been a pain in the ass for me, whether it's having to disable them every time I want to do something specific, or having to deal with their popups suddenly minimizing my game, it's just aggrovating.

The only Antivirus I've ever liked, that's never caused me so much agony I've rage-deleted it, is ESET NOD32. I'm sure other smooth user-friendly ones exist, but I can't be buggered to try them after the torture Norton and other antivirus software has put me through.

From what I was reading on a test conducted on this year's anti-virus programs, ESET NOD32 was #1, and Kaspersky (what I use) was #2.

Oh, hey, look.  There it is.

Though, that doesn't actually have anything to do with SO...

Other MMOs, perhaps.  On the contrary, I'd say SO would be perfect for a handheld, as there is nothing that needs to BE done.  You just play it to dick around.  Whipping it out (excuse the mental image) to play in the free 10 minutes before you go on to the next thing is practically the hallmark of handhelds, and SO would fit perfectly into that.

On the Iphone, though?  I don't know about that.  Sure, you have internet access at all times, but touch screen controls....eh.

Quote from: crozier on April 19, 2010, 07:10:14 PMYes but this is out of hand. Once people start doing stuff like he is doing and not having any contact with the game at all, then whats the point of him being on a forum dedicated to a game in which he doesn't care about.
Then why does this forum have an off-topic section at all? I know it doesn't mean you are allowed complete free reign in any topic in that section, but still your argument is flawed. And I still think if a topic goes off-topic in an interesting direction that it's a good thing.

Lingus be honest, you can't be this big of a fan of scotty in order to defend him when he is saying crap like in those quotes I posted.
I aplologise for using the diseasian term incorectly, but if you frown more at me for saying that, (yes it was indeed a joke) more then scotty saying much more crap which was offensive then you are a complete idiot.
A fan of his? What the hell? I believe you have mistaken me for some of the children who visit this forum and look up to Scott as their idol. I'm older than he is by a few years first off. And while I respect him as a person and a friend I wouldn't say I'm his "fan". And in any case, the quotes you posted of his aren't really that horrible taken in the context of the fact that it's Scott posting them. He says stuff like that and it shouldn't be taken offensively.

Next Topic of intrest: Why are you guys thinking in the past first off? Now you CAN choose to be a jew. You CAN choose to not to be a jew. Life moves on whether you are a jew or not.
I wasn't thinking in the past in my first response. I cannot choose to not be Jewish. My mother is Jewish. I am Jewish. It is part of my ethnicity. I don't really even practice the religion. But regardless, I have no choice. I can deny it all I want, but it would be like anyone else denying their ethnicity.

Similarly, anyone can convert to Judaism. Learn everything about the Torah and all of the other religious texts. Learn Hebrew. All of the traditions and prayers. Go to temple. All of that. But they won't be Jewish the same way I am.

Topics in the off-topic section are getting off topic. Thats why it feels like it doesn't have anything to do with the game anymore.

though he may not being serious. Making fun of retards and making a topic just to call an other member gay is pretty screwed up.

But they are still Jewish, just not like you. Ok the very first person to be jewish must have converted. It was jesus, right? Please correct me if I am incorrect as I am not sure. He had to converted because as a baby you dont know what god is or if you are his son or not. Therefor if he converted he isn't a true jew (lol it rymes). Therefor nobody is at all.

Cactuscat222

I won't lie, its kind of ridiculous to say "Oh its fine when Scotty does it, that is just who he is!" Then turn around and bash all the trolls for doing what they always do...

Though obviously Scotty isn't a troll, and I couldn't care less about the material posted as long as it keeps me entertained or interested.

No... no sir. Very incorrect. Jesus would have been the first Christian I guess. It is true that Jesus was Jewish, but Judaism has existed for many thousands of years before Jesus. In any case, I'm not going to get into this. Just know that Judaism is a religion, but it is also an ethnicity. It is unlike many other religions in that sense. So you are correct, you can convert to the religion, but you cannot convert to the ethnicity. Saying no one is Jewish because the first person had to have converted in is like saying no one is African, or British, or Asian.

Ok I wasn't sure about that thats why I asked if that info was correct.
Thanks for the info. Didn't know any of that.

I'm sorry Crozier, when exactly did we appoint you the new sheriff in town? Oh wait, we didn't. If Scotty needs to be dealt with, he will be. I have reigned him in before and told him to drop it when he goes too far, and that has been enough. If you have a complaint about scotty bring it up with him or me in a PM.

This is the off-topic section, Scotty, as well as Chaos while we are on this topic are both valuable members of this community. SO would not be where it is now without the two of them, so respect your elders. If they believe that the people here on this forum are worth amusing, than by all means let them continue to stick around and be a part of this community and join in on our fun, our dancing and our bragging of sexual conquests.

It's the bloody Off-topic section, as long as what they post is semi-relevant to the thread at hand, whether it contributes to the topic at hand or not, it is allowed.

Now, on another note about this Jewish crap. You can choose to be or not to be a Jew. It is NOT a race. It is a religion. You can come from Jewish parents and choose not to be a Jew. Just because you have a furry head, a long nose and an obsession for money does NOT make you a Jew if you don't also follow the religion.

Nobody appointed me anything but I still thought like expressing my oppinion. Funny that you can do that, huh?
But really, does Hitler have anything to do with your job you want to be when you grow up?
It moved from being on topic->jew talk->Angry words at Hitler->me blurting out ->all mods taking scotty's side ->back to some jew stuff, so lets just bring it back on topic.

You haven't exactly been aiding this topic with keeping relevance in your posts the last two pages either...  Might I recommend next time taking this to PMs as to avoid any possible back-lash and not sounding hypocritical with your attempts at going off topic by discussing how off-topic one can be.

So back on topic now...

I'm curious on some people's parts (especially Chaos) who wants to become an entrepreneur and start his own business, and anyone else who has similar ambitions, do any of you know anything about entrepreneurship?  Or is it just somewhat of a silly ambitious attempt at fighting the man and doing what you want?  The thing is, and I've seen this a lot, people hate bosses.  It's just human nature to not want to be controlled.  Chaos defines that sort of persona, but all too often do I see it where someone is offered that spot amongst those we would hate, and shazzam, they become who they've hated for so long once given the opportunity.  Take for instance, deadlines.  Developers HATE deadlines, they are always too short, un-realistic, but somehow they always happen thanks to long nights, lots of coffee, etc...  If you go to start your own business, how are you going to reasonably handle them any different?  Deadlines are deadlines, they have to be in existence.  No matter what you set as a must-have-done-by-this-date, if you expand a deadline further, that just means that you are going to try and do more, and put more work in, thus making the next (previously reasonable) deadline identical to the last.

I'm just wondering for all those entrepreneurs-to-be, if they've thought through all aspects.  I for one never care to be an entrepreneur, as I don't care to have to be the one calling the shots.  I don't care to rise in management, own a business, I am content with staying where I am at right now as the lead developer of my project.

Chaos

I have no hatred toward bosses in general, nor being one.  I am just not the type of person to live within the constraints of someone else.  I hate being shackled, and I have no interest in spending my entire life under the thumb of some CEO making millions a year.  I would much rather BE the CEO making millions a year.

Seifer, please don't get into this as I may become offended. Thank you. Rather than try to argue with you, as I myself am Jewish yet do not follow the religion to any great extent, I will leave it at that.

Edit: I decided to offer a bit of information. Take a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jews

Specifically the parts that talk about ethnicity.

Quote from: Scotty on April 20, 2010, 12:15:01 PMI'm just wondering for all those entrepreneurs-to-be, if they've thought through all aspects.
It's a good point. One thing I've learned watching my mom build up her business is that it's not anywhere near as easy, nor do you even make any more money, as being an employee. The first several years of a start-up business you aren't really making much profit to speak of. There's so many costs involved. As you start growing, this becomes something you have to keep a handle on all the time. Cost of employees, office space... all that. So while you can say you are making $200 per hour, you also have way more cost. In the end, you are working longer hours, have more stress, and are making if not the same than less money than if you were to just take a job at a company.
