Imagine the following diagram:

From left to right:
First man is facing left, cannot see the three to his right - We'll label him: Man #1
Second man is highest up, facing right, can see the other two men to his right - We'll label him: Man #2
Third man is middle up, facing right, can see the other man in front of him - We'll label him: Man #3
Fourth man is facing right, cannot see the men behind him - We'll label him: Man #4

No one knows the color of their own hat.  They are free to discuss with each other the colors of other's hats, but have no clue as to what theirs are, cannot move to change direction, and each is free to lie to each other if it benefits them (or they could be truthful).  They are all aware that there are two different colored hats (and their color obviously), and that there are two of each of the two colors, but they have no idea what theirs is.  The goal is to be the first to discover their hat color.  As soon as they discover what their hat color is, they have to be truthful in stating their hat color (thus divulging to the others with 100% certainty), and they are out of the game.

What is the order to which Man # gets out?

Please be a good sport and resist any urge to look this up online.  If you do find yourself stumped, and Google it, or already know the answer from another prank (e.g. you don't have to think), please do not come here and blurt out your findings, we all like to have fun, no one likes a party pooper.

I already know the answer to this one, and the reasoning behind it, so I'm just gonna sit back and watch those that don't know try to figure it out :D

At this rate we're gonna have only 2 people that can take a legitimate stab at it!  ;)

To illustrate that #2 can see #3 and #4, while #3 can only see #4.

EDIT: and no, neither answer from Titan or GIS is correct.

Mr Pwnage

Well the middle 2 would have to be first and the outside guys would have to be last since they can't see shit...

My guess is 3,2,1,4

Reasoning is, well the first 2 I am just kind of guessing is the third one. I think it would be too obvious if the guy who can see 2 people goes first, and this is a riddle. Than as I said, the next middle guy would be after, being number 2. Also, since the first guy to leave (guy 3) was wearing a black hat, I am sending off number 1 since he also has a black hat. Than number 4 is all like "sadface" cause he blows.

Well, I know for certain the 3rd one would be out first.

If the guy who can see the two on the right saw 2 of the same color, he'd instantly know his is the opposite, so the 3rd guy, knowing that the 2nd guy doesn't know his and also knowing the guy in front of him is wearing a white hat instantly has to tell them that he is in fact wearing a black hat, making him the first to be out.

I assume that the 4th guy would then be out next because he knows his is opposite of the 3rd guy if the 2nd guy has made it apparent that the two don't have the same color.

So I think the first two are 3rd then 4th, not sure about the other two yet.

EDIT: I think the 1st is next because he is looking in a window in the distance and sees the white on his hat, making 2 the last to say his hat color. [/sarcasm] :P

We has a winner!
BTW, #1 and #2 will never know.

Aha! I just couldn't figure out how 1 or 2 would ever know, so that makes sense, I should have known!
