God-I-Suck

hey everyone, i just got contacts today (:

at the orthopedics i had to put them in, take them out and put them in again in order to be able to keep them. took me around 40 minutes to put them in and even longer to remove them haha. but putting them in the second time was a breeze. no color, just clear. i can now play basketball way easier and i look better as well. (;

just wanted to know if anyone else here wears contacts and see what kind of feedback you guys got for me. what are your guys' techniques for inserting/removing them?

RayRay

No fair! I tried getting some today and I didn't have the power to keep my eyes open. I'm planning on trying again next week.

God-I-Suck

ohh haha what a coincidence! better luck next time /:

How long do you keep them in until you need a new pair? Do they last like a month or is it just for shorter periods of times?

God-I-Suck

i got the monthly version which is cheaper. every month i get a replacement pair. but there is another option where you use a fresh pair of contacts everyday but they're more expensive.

I've been using contacts for 2 yrs and only used glasses for like a month. I basically use em all the time because im really blind without them. When putting them in i use 1 finger from my hand to open up an eye and put it in. And i close my eyes and press down gently so it pops air bubbles. But yea it hurts when your just starting to use, just remember to take them out before you go to sleep. If you leave them in your eyes will feel stressed but it usually goes away, just wash your eyes and take them out and reput. If you get shampoo in your eyes while wearing contacts they get red l0l.

Hope this helped :D

great, thank you! i have to take them out again before i go to sleep today... not looking forward to that.. haha.

I've used contacts for around 2 years or so as well.

Honestly at this point its easy for me. I usually just put the contact on one finger, and use the other hand to pull down my lower eyelid and just put it in.
Taking them out, I just lightly pinch it and it pops right off.

Also, not sure if this is true for all brands or contacts, or people, but I have the monthly ones and use them for far longer.
The last pair I had for over 2 months I believe.

Just out of curiosity, what brand of contacts do you have?

good question.. i don't have a clue lol.

but one this.. taking these contacts out are physically impossible. im getting really frustrated with this... hopefully i just get lucky and they plop out.

I've been using contacts for around a year now. I had not worn glasses at any point in my life and went straight for the contact route. It took me a while for me to put in and take out the contacts at the optometrist. I had gotten them a few days before I started my senior year of high school because in the previous year it was hard for me to see the board if I had been sitting in the back. I now only use them when I drive, play sports, or go to the movies normally. My license actually lists me as not wearing glasses or contacts, not planning to mention to them about it the next time I need it updated.  :P

It is now pretty easy for me to put in and take out the contacts, max of 2 or so minutes of putting them in and 30 seconds for taking them out. I have the one month set for my contacts, have them delivered in sets of 12 for a year of usage. I normally can use each pair for around 2-3 months though. If you use them for 3 months it seems to be harder and harder to put them in without having to continually move the contact and fix the bubbles it causes with it being over-used. It feels really good to use a new pair after a while. For taking them off I simply slide down the contact a bit and pinch my pointer finger and thumb together to take them out. It's good to make sure the solution in the case is clean because it can sometimes become cloudy if you don't change it for a few weeks, I've had it happen a few times now. I'm pretty sure they mention it's best to clean the solution every day though. While sleeping it is crucial to take them out. My aunt continually slept with them in for a year or so and ended up with a bad infection in both of her eyes. She had to stop wearing her contacts for a few months.

They're awesome though, try not to have long periods of time though between usage; it feels weird if I don't wear the contacts between stretches of a week or so.

God-I-Suck

cool, great for the feedback!

i can't seem to get this "pinch" which should be renamed to the "the grip from hell" down.. i can't even tell if im touching my contact or not, let alone pinch that bugger. i don't understand how these magicians can do this.. plus i can't even get my index finger and thumb to get in the pinching form because my damn middle finger bugs out and lets go of my eyelid. this is ridiculous. if anyone has an alternate way or maybe some sort of trick to get these things out of my eye, please tell me! when i was taking them out at the optometry some massive boost of luck came along and it kinda just popped out when i tried to pinch it..

For me it's better to use the middle finger to pull down the lower eye lid and then slightly move the contact downward. After doing so I grab the contact with my pointer finger and thumb side to side, not up and down. It's easier for me to take them out that way.

You're all cyborgs! Learn to be normal like the rest of us with 20/20 vision!

My friend is becoming a pilot and having a surgery where they reconstruct his vision to be better than 20/20. It's going to be a nice amount of money for the procedure though I believe.

God-I-Suck

oh shutup t-rok lol.

*sigh* im just gonna have to try for like an hour until the luck rolls around and they plop out.
