Sharon already left the show after thousands of people sent in messages to have her removed. She did an apology but it was really insincere:

I'm glad she apologized - although, in my opinion, I'd be more for both sides being allowed to joke about it, rather than neither being able to talk about it without offending.

This guy's a pig.

No but seriously. Here's the thing: is it only because it's a women's show that this guy has a problem with it? What if it were a group of men, or men and women, sitting around laughing about some guy who got messed up? That kind of thing happens all the freaking time, all over the place. No one cares when that happens...

This kind of speaks to the general lack of compassion that most people show towards others. The only aspect of this that relates back to gender inequality is that he is right about the fact that a group of men could not sit around and laugh about a woman being mutilated. But, the only reason for that is because of the fact that historically, women have been oppressed in our society. It is a backlash against that, certainly. But, what would be really great, is if NO ONE sat around laughing at other people's misfortune.

That's a good point. One thing I've noticed, whether it be the oppression of homosexuals, women, or native americans, is that people tend to give extra privileges to groups that were oppressed. Women are supported for being men-haters, native americans are supported for being racist and given special privileges, and homosexuals are praised for flaunting their sexuality, even when it's not appropriate to do so. I support the rights of everyone equally, so I find it sad that certain groups who at one point were oppressed, are actually doing some of the oppressing. Some would call that justice, but I see it as repeating our past.

That is exactly how I feel when someone argues "we can do it because we were oppressed before". That isn't equality - that's vengeance. Though, you could argue it's just fair and retribution, and you wouldn't be wrong either. Sucks how subjective these things are - makes it so you'll never know exactly where the line is.

Sure it is.  Retribution is why there is still inequality.  If the minority is hell bent on getting even or ahead, it only further substantiates the majority's view on why the minority is the minority.  Two wrongs don't make a right, as cliche as it is, is always true.  If one feels compelled to get back at another for being looked down upon, how can there be equality?  As long as one can look at another and say "You've wronged me and I am justified in my acts of revenge", there's no possibility for level grounds between them.  To be honest, even in every human attempt at reconciling through compensation we are still furthering the rift between the various social groups.  If a minority is given additional privileges because of oppression that has come to pass, the compensation alone puts them ahead of the majority, creating in-equality.

Essentially, it's a lose, lose situation from any angle.  Humans are greedy and want power.  If we are oppressed from achieving power, we demand retribution until we regain power above others.  Essentially, equal treatment will never exist.  We may attempt to make individual conscious efforts to treat others fairly, but as long as we have to remind ourselves that everyone is equal, we've already failed.

As for "The Talk", their humor is disgusting.  The fact that they can sit around their table reminding themselves that they are not only employed, but make millions, thus don't give a crap what others think is disgusting enough, but to try and make jokes on another man's extreme misfortune is just downright inconceivable.

If you had watched the actual video clip, there was one person who said "this is wrong, if it were a bunch of men laughing about a woman everyone would get angry about it." Then Sharon says "yeah...but this is different!" and then they proceed to continue laughing at the poor guy.

He's angry because it's blatant sexism.

Yeah, seriously. I mean, it's one thing if somebody dies, but his dick got chopped off and they had the gall to make light of that. Not cool.

That show is one of the most annoying things on TV. I watched a few minutes of it before when it came on and all it was was 4 women talking at the same time, trying to see who could yell louder about the topic to get their opinion heard. And they always crack some stupid sexist joke whenever they get the chance. (because it's all women on the show, and in the audience)

Yeah, that is exactly how I feel. It's really just bothersome... equality movements should be about bringing everyone up to the same level, not about bringing other downs.

'Course, being a white male, my opinion is almost always excluded when it comes to these discussions because I'm privileged and have absolutely no way of seeing past it, ever, at all. >.>

So on the same token than, how does everyone feel about the N word being okay to used by black people but a terrible abomination when used by white people?

I'm black and I pretend it is a sacred word reserved for us only, but only for the purposes of trolling. Only retards truly get offended, and even if they are offended, who the hell cares? Being offended doesn't make you right.
