I'm buying a new webcam(Suggestions?)

Well, since my old webcam doesn't work with my new laptop, I'm forced to go buy a new one. D:

My budget was originally anything up to $30, but I've been searching online and ended up finding this;
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2887264
Which is $40 plus tax >.<

Reason why I like it is because of 3 specific features, which my old webcam supported;
It can be manually adjusted (by twisting the lens)
It has a still button you can press to take a snapshot
And its Logitech brand, which I trust with my life. I've never been disappointed with Logitech

So, reason why I'm posting this is for 2 reasons;
Those of you who have bought a webcam, is there one you're really happy with, that's still for sale? (and by sale I mean I can go to the store, not ebay)
I'd like any suggestions from people who have gotten a webcam, and are very happy with their purchase, cause I don't wanna buy a piece of crap cam and not be able to get a new one, since money is very hard to come by for me....

Secondly, if I get this new webcam, I've been fancying the thought of giving my old one away to someone who deserves it. Which, it's a REALLY good cam, but I can't promise you it will work on a Windows 7 computer, since it doesn't work on this one.

Talk to chris, I know he likes his quite a bit

Chaos

Indeed I do.  Mine's a logitech, and high quality.  It was also $99 :x
Jake says:
lol, I found God! He was hiding under a big rock this entire time that lil jokster

Meiun

I've got a logitech as well, and I also like it quite a bit.

Jaso

My laptop has a built-in webcam. Excluding the occasional Skype conversation, I hardly ever use it, so I've never encountered any huge problems.

Step 1, close Radioshack website.
Step 2, go to Ncix.com or newegg.com.
Step 3, ????
Step 4, profit!

This is what i use:
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xboxlivevision/default.htm

Its good quality, I have had it for years, works great on windows, can be manually adjusted by twisting lens.

But it does not have a snapshot button. Its $20 and i think its worth its price.

To be honest, I have never gotton anything good from radioshack, ever. It is essentially a store full of overpriced pieces of shit that don't do the goddamn thing their !@#$ing supposed to. I have a logitech one. Not a 99$ one like chaos but for the 15 dollars or so I payed for it it works. I dont really use it ever anyways. If you want quality, get logitechs 99 dollar one, its one of the best ones out there. Though since your budgets 40, you can look into logiteches cheaper ones...though you want get anything with crisp picture for under 30 unless you get a used one or some method of getting a deal on it.

The shack is not bad. I got a $12 tripod that's great. They have battery's for everything. And is the easiest and closes place to get electronic components. They also have good cheap av cabling, and once in the while you can find cheap cool gadgets.

Scotty

My general experience with Radioshack is that they are way overpriced for stuff you can get anywhere else.  I typically do all my electronics shopping at the local Best Buy's and such.  Seriously, they wanted to charge me 60 bucks for CAT-5 crimpers.  SIXTY bucks.  I'd rather just use a flat-head and a box cutter than pay $60 dollars for a pair of crimpers!

I will say the shack stuff is over priced(yeah yeah it really is true and ill admit it) compared for what you can get online. But not to other big box stores. Thats why i get the stuff they have on sale.

but...

Is no better.

The only reason im defending the shack is because you all are making it sound like a Target but i dont think its any worse than your best buys or comp usas or circet citys ect.

p.s. i like frys/micro center best for a brick and morder electronic store.

Scotty

Every store is going to have overpriced items.  It goes by brand.  Heck, I remember seeing a site way back that was selling 12 foot HDMI cables for less than 10 bucks, if I recall correctly.  It's just a matter of personal preference.

I will agree though that Fry's would be my favorite, they are just hard to come by.

I agree. Also i think that site you were talking about is http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp ?

Scotty

Yep, that's the one.  Anything A/V cables can be bought there for a price that is too cheap to at least not give a shot.
